How can I install window xp to Satellite A205-S5825

Where can XP compatible drivers for the Toshiba A205-S5825 be found. Toshiba's support site for this model lists primarily drivers for Vista (the native operating system installed on this model) but chipset and other critical drivers for XP are not available.

First, i'd check with Toshiba to ensure that they have Drivers available for that unit in windows xp. Also, check to make sure you still have the recovery disks that come with the unit in case you do wan't to go back to Vista.

First you would need to buy the full version of windows xp wich tends to retail for $199. You should be able to follow the directions on screen once you insert the disk and reboot. The tricky part is finding the drivers for the unit once xp is installed. Some drivers will auto detect aside from video, sound & network adapters. Some times other drivers are missing as well.

If your not comfortable with this process, just bring it in to a pro. Geek Squad charges $129 for this process.

There are many ways to install a windows. is it a dirty install? meaning there is a previous windows installed and you will just simply overwrite the current but this will require you for a reactivation of your windows and you will be needing the product key.
the second one is the clean reinstallation which means it will wipe out everything inside your hard drive to create a fresh new copy of windows but you will also be needing all the drivers for your system.

so if you are planning for a clean installation, try to secure first the drivers of your computer or download it .

how to do a clean windows reinstall
turn on the computer and place the windows cd inside your cd drive then turn off the computer.

To begin insert your Windows XP Home CD and reboot you computer. A message "Press any key to boot from CD....." will appear, press the space bar to continue.
Setup will now inspect your computer hardware and configuration.
Setup now prepares your computer for install.
From the Welcome sto etup screen menu press "ENTER" to begin the install.
on the licensing agreement press f8 to i agree then
if prompted whether you want to repair or create or install new windows press esc to continue
at the partition page , search for the partition which has the largest size if you have more than 1 partition. hihglight the partition and then press d for delete to delete partition and press L to confirm deletion. after that highlight the unpartitioned drive and press C to create partition. after the partition has been created it will read as raw partitioned , highlight the raw partitioned and press enter and will get the message Now you have to select where to install XP. Press "ENTER" to confirm the partition you want to install into.
the next page will ask you how you want to format your partition, select "format the partition using the ntfs file system" then everything will be moot and academic. your computer will restart several times dont press any key when computer is rebooting until it finishes the installation. after it has finished installation and you are now on your new desktop screen remove the cd and insert the drivers of your computer. the first driver you need to reinstall is the chipset driver for your motherboard then the netword driver so that you can immediately go online and be able to download other drivers you need.

I have a toshiba satellite A205-S500 I am looking for a replacement black keyboard and I believe the LCD Screen needs to be replaced where can I buy these two parts and can I install them myself.

You are looking at about $200 for keyboard and LCD, and you could buy them from here http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,A205,PSAE3U-07Y023,Laptop,LCDs-Displays.aspx
As for installing them yourself, it's pretty easy if you're handy with a screwdriver. Have a look here for a video guide:

Toshiba satellite a205-s5831 Received kernel data error. Hard drive has clicking noises. Programs ran slow. Chkdsk running now for over 15 hours and only on 11%..preplacing bad clusters.

When a harddrive starts clicking it's on it's way out.
Buy a new harddrive and at the same time get a USB to laptop harddrive adapter. You can reinstall XP with the recovery disks that came with your machine ans then slave your old drive to your laptop and recover your personal files.
If you really want to get technicalbuy an Apricorn housing: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817155602
And two new harddrives, fit one new harddrive to the Apricorn housing and try to install the EZgig cloning software to your dying Windows. You can clone your existing Windows install to the new harddrive in the Apricorn housing and then move that drive to your laptop, the second new harddrive can then be fitted to the Apricorn housing and used as an external harddrive.
EZgig comes with the Apricorn housing and you could even go so far as to create a clone of your Windows install to the new external harddrive. The Apricorn housings are excellent, they are small enough to carry in your laptop case and all they need for power is a USB port.

I have a toshiba satellite a205-5000 laptop it came with Vista, I want to put XP Pro instead, but it doesn't find the drive when you install. What do I need to do?

Hi, its because its a new laptop, you have a sata hard drive in the laptop which requires sata drivers to install older versions like windows xp, only problem is none of the companys are releasing the drivers to put xp on them, so im afraid your stuck with vista on it. due to the sata hard drive.

All the best

I have a toshiba A205-S4617 Laptop which had Vista Home Premium . Now i have downgraded it to XP pro sp2 but i am getting some Audio problems. The music and movis playing at half the speed ...it sounds...

OK ! As far as I can tell, (hopefully) you have installed corrupted audio drivers for the laptop. Its an issue that I have come accross 1 month ago. I fixed it by doing the following...

Installing the latest audio drivers for the downgrade of XP.
Installing the latest audio/video codecs for Windows XP.
Installing the latest Direct X redistribute
Uninstalling the windows update:MSWindowsHighDefinitionAudio

These three (Audio/Video Codecs, Audio Drivers and Direct X) are responsible for "decoding" your Movies and Music. If they are outdated or their host application is corrupt, they can cause sum grief to your multimedia.

Also, a very rare issue could be that you're selected (If you are using Windows Media Player 9-11) the speed settings. It could be that the speed settings are set to low. To troubleshoot this, simply download and install 3party apps like WINAMP (for audio) and VLC / VLan Player (for Video) and open your music or video with either one of the mentioned apps...
