Question about Canon PIXMA iP3000 InkJet Photo Printer
I have not been able to print even a test page since I bought my Canon Pixma 1300. I have had nothing but an error 5100 come up. The tiny green light of the start button keeps flashing on and off alternately with the other orange light of the button next to it. I thought I had not put in the ink cartridges properly but I think I finally got the right positioning of the cartridges after sliding it up and down a few times. I must say the cartridge installation process is badly instructed as there does not
appear to be mentioned in the instruction that the cartridges do not have a strong locking device that clearly locks them into place, so you are left guessing if you've got it right.
Has anyone else had the same problem(ERROR 5100 & and cartridge placement) with this printer? And if so how did you fix it or know that you put the cartridge in properly?

I have manage to solve the problem myself now. I noticed one of the ink cartridges wasnt sitting properly so have pushed it in. Dont know how it popped up.

My sister has a Canon i450, and it sounded like it was grinding the gears, when trying to print. After searching error 5100, I found this page that basically said something was locking up the gears. I finally took it apart and found a pair of tweezers had fell inside from the back paper in slot. Thanks for the info!

If you read further post, someone had posted a solution, to wipe the bar where the ink cartridges go across, with a cloth. I did this, and now my printer is going ok. I emailed Canon, and they told me to take it in for service, but since i got it going doing the above, I did not have to.
