Question about Dell Inspiron B130 Notebook

1 Answer

My post not sure but for some reason, in the last month when i go to power up my computer the start up is very slow. usually taking up to ten minutes. then once i get everything up and running it runs fine. seems like the start up just takes forever. im not sure if i have a bunch of programs in the start up that are causing the issue or what. can anyone help? i have a celeron processor, so i know that isnt helping the problem but it was working fine and then all of a sudden this so... any suggestions? i do have 2gb of memory in it also i tried this that someone else recommended. it didnt help but slowed my system down even more. a chkdsk. right click the c: drive, properties, tools, error checking and put a check mark on both options. restart the machine and let it go through the check disk procedure which could take up to a half an hour at times.

It's very possible that you have a memory chip that is malfunctioning or failing. Also you can try opening the start menu and deleting everything out of the start up section under programs. Another thing you can do is, go to filehippo.com and download CCleaner. Run it under the cleaner and registry tabs. It's a very useful tool and will help clean out the built up **** in your machine. Try these and let me know if it persists.

One other thing I ment to mention is the possibility of a hard drive failure. This may be the indication that the hard drive is going out. If it is the hard drive, it will present itself with time.

No start after removing ignition switch and lock cylinder.

These vehicles have a built in antitheft system. When switching the ignition you interrupt this system. You will need to do a system relearn after the new ignition is installed. It will not start until the new ignition is installed and relearned. Step one. Put key in ignition, turn forward 2 clicks until right before it should start. Keep like that for ten minutes, NO LESS. Step two. After the ten minutes, turn key back to off position for 5 seconds. You need to do steps 1 & 2 a total of three times in a row without trying to start the car in between. The whole process should take roughly 30 minutes. After the last time waiting 5 seconds in off position, turn key forward and attempt to start the vehicle. Remember no less than ten minutes when forward, maybe do ten minutes and 15 seconds to be sure, some people even do 11 minutes.

turn the igntion on, don't start, let it set for ten minutes Turn it off for 5 seconds then try to start it. If it lost memory for some reason and doesn't start . then do this three times , after the third time start it. that is the relearn procedure. Have a charger on it for the 30 minute relearn. Relearn is on for ten m off five s on ten off five on ten off five then start

Power connection light is orange?

Hi,

Three possible work arounds/fixes:
1. Plug the computer into a power strip that has an on/off switch. Turn the power strip on. Press the computer power on button to start as normal, but after after one second turn off the power strip switch just long enough for the fans on the computer to slow down, but the amber computer led doesn't turn off and then turn the power strip switch back on. Computer should start and run fine. Computer typically can be shut down for up to 5 minutes and restarted normally--any longer and you have to sue the power strip power switch routine again.

2. Remove the cmos battery for about one minute and then replace. This fix may last for months but problem will return.

3. If either of the above fixes work and computer starts, press the F2 key (usually, could be F12 on some models) when computer screen first comes on and before Windows starts to load. Select the BIOS setup option and reload the default settings --you will have to change any of the settings that chanhged due to upgrades and changes that you have made to the base computer. Note that the a common default BIOS setting includes a floppy drive check even when the computer doesn't have a floppy drive and this setting has to be changed to 'none' typically. This one is not for the faint of heart!

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Monitor has very slow turn on time, about 5 minutes, even when computer is on and in sleep mode, when you hit a key it takes about 5 minutes for monitor to fire uo

Hello,

The usual cause of the slow display start up is the power supply. When you turn the monitor on or wake it from power save the power supply starts up but if it does not get stable voltages then it will not display a picture until they do stabilize. When the power supply starts to fail you can get this type of symptom. Other indications of failing power supplies include blinking power lights, fuzzy or wavy display or even a high pitched sound coming from the back of your monitor. If you cab solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. We have a step by step repair article posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-the-samsung-940mw-lcd-tv/ Look it over and see if this is something you can do, if you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service. Here is the link to request a service number on your monitor, http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/

I hope this information is helpful, if so please rate our solution.

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion. Over the last two year I have had an intermittent problem with the car not starting. I'll stop at a store come back out within ten minutes and the car engine will not turn over....

Brad,
I too have the same vehicle with the same problem, however I don't think its a battery or alternator problem. I thought those were it at first too however after getting both checked that was not the case. My friends and family who have experience with cars think this is a computer glich of some kind, let me know if you figure this out!
Thanks,
David

Slow start up

hmmm.. besides it possibly being a virus and spyware related issue, i would do a chkdsk. right click the c: drive, properties, tools, error checking and put a check mark on both options. restart the machine and let it go through the check disk procedure which could take up to a half an hour at times.

let's hope that takes care of it. do you have enough disk space?
