Question about Dell Inspiron Notebook
I have a new computer and I cannot connect to the Internet. I know the ethernet cable is good because I can connect using my old laptop. Any ideas?
Go into the device manager and check to see if the drivers for the ethernet controller are there. If they are, uninstall and reinstall doing a hardware search, if that doesn't fix it then it's a faulty port. (should be under warranty) If the drivers are not there, then you will need to use another computer to go to Dell's support site, download and burn the drivers to a disc, in order to install them into your new machine. Also while you're in the device manager, look for any other device drivers you may need, you will recognize any devices that don't have drivers by a yellow question mark. You might as well burn all of them you need to one disc just in case you need them in the future.
