What OS are you using? I don't think that camera and software will work
correctly on Windows XP. It is OK with Win 98SE.
You are plugging the Stereo plug all the way into the camera connector. It
must seat all the way to the base of the plug.

http://www.carlmcmillan.com/re lisys_dimera_3500.htm For pictures of the RS232 connector, and information on serial camera
connection.
http://www.carlmcmillan.com/se rial_cable_pinout.htm If you have a ohm meter, (multitester which you can buy at Radio Shack $15)
you can check the cable. This is the pin-out for the serial cable for the
Relisys Dimera 3500 camera.
The RS-232 end usually has numbers beside the pins.
Connector cable pinout (9 pin female RS-232 to 3.5mm stereo plug (1/8") )
2 - tip Receive data on computer end
3 - Middle Transmit data on computer end
5 - Base Signal ground on computer end
Check to see if each connection is good. To measure pins on RS-232, straighten
a paper clip(regular not jumbo) and stick into pin, put lead from tester on
paper clip. Example: One lead of tester on pin 2 of rs-232 other lead of
tester on tip of stereo plug, meter reads 0 ohms = good. Infinity=bad.
Check to see if there is a short (0 ohms)from the Base of stereo plug to any
of the other connections.
If you find a short, get another cable.
Also if you have a volt meter(see above), check the power adapter to see if it
really has 3 volts output.
