Hi Robotek, Thanks for taking the time. Music centre is Sharp VZ-1610. It has twin tape decks, Tuner and Record deck that plays both sides. There are two ports in front, one is mic socket, and the other is phones socket. In back there is cd/aux sockets left and right, which are phono sockets. On an earlier computer, I had the phones socket connected to audio in on computer. This worked fine. But on this computer, no joy. I wondered if maybe I neede some form of software.Look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks again Smartalex.

Hi Robotek, sorry I haven't been around for a few days. Problem solved, Audacity did the trick. A million thanks.

Hi, it is not my first choice, but you can use the earphone connection to do it. keeping the vol under half you should have enough clean audio to work with. Then using a stereo 3.5mm jack to jack lead, plug it into the line input on your computer. If you have not had any success so far, double check that you have used a line in input.
As for software, try using Audacity. It is cool shareware audio recording software that will do the job for you.

To download video to the computer you will need a fire wire cable. Some cameras will download via USB. The camera end of the firewire will be a 4 pin connector and you will need to check the computer. If its a large connector that would be 6 pin, if it is small like the camera, then 4 pin.

Hope this helps.

Which color is the input jack for recording

On the front panel, the audio jack on the left side when looking at the front of the computer is the mic jack. On the back, look for the pink jack in the audio panel area. This is the mic. I included a picture of it below.

Sound quality transferring tapes via mixmeister to pc

Possibly a problem with the computers power. Possibly not. Try this program. If the data gets messed up you can at least fix it with this one. For extra added bonus, it is free and open source. Cant beat that! Available for Mac PC and Linux

Problem with Sony RCD-W1 CD recorder

'No audio' comes up when you use the wrong type of cdr in the drive. You need a 'consumer audio' or 'music' specific CDR and not a generic computer cdr to use in these units.

Problem with Headset

Make sure that the recording software is installed. Goto start -> control panel -> Sound and audio devices now if you look towards the top, you'll see 5 tabs. We'll be paying attention to "Audio" and "Voice". Both of them should have a "default device" listed in there, if it's greyed out, then it's not working. If you have a Dell, you should have a CD that has all the device drivers located on it. If you don't, you can call dell to have them send you one, or you can look manually on their website for each driver according to the computer type.
