Your lens is dirty, very common and is considered routine maintenance.
3 ways to fix this.
1. Buy a CD cleaner, it is a cd that has little brushes on it that clean the lens as it spins. Can buy one for under $20
You will need a can of compressed air for electronics. Open up your cd
tray and pull the power from your 360. Push the tray half way in and
position the nozzle extender for the can of air right at the cd lens
and give it a few blasts of air. It may take a few times to get the
nozzle in the right place.
3. Disassemble your 360 (will void warranty) and take the DVD Drive out of it. After the drive is removed you can remove the cover to the
drive and manually clean the lens. Put it all back together and you are
back to playing games and reading disks.
Listen close and see if you hear the tray motor running. If you do then, most likely, the belt and pulleys that move the disk tray are dirty. Which might also explain not being able to read disks. Here's what to do: Pull the face plate off of the 360. This will NOT void your warranty. Beneath the disc tray (look under and "into" the tray) you should see a gear wheel on your left side. Push eject. Use a toothpick (or similar object) to turn that gear from left to right. Keep turning and the tray should pop open. Unplug (WITHOUT turning off) the 360. Pull the disk tray to full extention and look through the slot in the center of it. You'll see the belt and pulleys. Tweeze the belt out small pulley first clean the belt & pullies w/alcohol. Put belt on big pulley first. Then run a lens cleaner disk when you get it opening again.
Hello my friend, Regarding this matter, my recommendation is first try to clean your xbox 360 using cleaner disk. In that way, you can be sure that if next time you insert a disk it surely read unless the disk laser reader is the problem. Then try to insert Disk in your xbox 360 but if it works then try another disk if new disk is better and if you try this step 3 - 4 times then try to contact your supplier or the store that supply's your xbox then ask support or ship it back to them. Also you can find technician to fix your problem but i recommend shipping back the unit to the supplier for futher check up and if the unit is really the problem then they can replaced it.
Hope this matter helps your problem.

Most likely it is your laser lense is dirty. Crack the case get in to the DVD drive open it. While in there give it a general cleaning then clean the laser lense with glass cleaner and a q-tip. Three other things to check. There are three motors in there one slides the tray in and out when you hit the eject button (small hole lower left of metal box under drive) another moves the laser when the tray moves back in you should see the laser move slightly and the lense bob up and down and light up, third is the spinner motor put and disc in the tray and close the tray the disc should spin up if it doesn't then the motor is bad. If all these things have work ok put it back together and test it out.
