Question about TruTech PVS12701 Portable DVD Player

Playing dvd-r on machine

We purchased this so that we could send my dad DVD's of his grandson that we take with our camera. Any suggestions on specifics in saving or burning or types of DVD's that work?

Does it tell you specifically in the user guide that the DVD player can play DVD-R disks? If it doesn't, it may not play them. Most models made within the last 2 or 3 years should.

I looked for a website for them and there isn't one listed. You might want to check with Target if you don't have a user guide for your DVD player.

This DVD player does play DVD-R

I burn lots of DVD on my computer from my video camera.

The very best quality DVD for burning from your computer is Taiyo Yuden. Other brands seem to work fine for me also. You should only buy a small quantity of DVD's until you decide which brand you like best. Then it is a good idea to buy 50 or more at a time. There is not much price difference in brands. I get 50 at a time for about $35.

You need a decent software to capture and edit the video, and to create a DVD.

I use Adobe Encore and Roxio Easy Media Creator 10.

For the easiest to use software I recommend Roxio. It makes a nice DVD and it captures video as well.

If your video camera has a firewire (IEEE) port for digital video you can capture the video with Windows movie maker, Roxio or any software that came with your camera.

You must also have a firewire port on your computer. If it doesn't have one, it is easy to install a PCI card with one.

If your camera doesn't have a firewire port, you may need to use the analog video (composite or S-video) , but you will need a video capture device. You would also need to input the audio seperately on your line input of your audio card.

I can help you further if you need it, but it would be very helpful to know how you plan on capturing the video and what type of devices you are using.

let me know if you need more help, and if this information was helpful a good rating is a great way you could say thanks for the help.

DVD will not play. DVD unknown disc please check again

Could just be a dirty lens.
Try cleaning the lens with a good quality micr-fiber cloth found in eye-glass cleaning kits. May need to wet the tip of the cloth with rubbing alcohol .

Check disc error

When you get a please check disc error when playing a DVD in your DVD machine, this is a signal that the lens of the DVD machine is getting weaker. I would ask you to try and play a CD in that machine. If it plays that means the lens of your DVD machine is weak. You have to change or purchase a new DVD machine.

You need to turn the power on, enter your DVD or Video Cassette, then press the triangle symbol which will play your DVD or Video. Cheers, eiger3790.

DVR making bad DVDs

Three suggestions:
1) take it apart and clean the laser and the spindle 'hub' that the DVD rests on
OR
2) get a 'cleaner' disk that will 'whisk' any dust from the laser diode.
OR as a final suggestion
3) replace the DVD recorder with another. Plain old EIDE parallel interface units fit fine.
This is a very friendly machine in that it will accept PC compatible hard disks and DVDR drives.

Can't play the DVD from Panasonic

Sorry for your loss. If he transferred everything using his Panasonic recorder, it is possible that he never finalized the discs to be played in other machines. If you still have the Panasonic, put the disc in and press the Functions button on the remote ---> choose Other Functions from the screen --> Disc Management --> Finalize your disc. This is one of many possible reasons but a good start. Good Luck - Tamara
