I have exactly the same problem. I do find though that as long as I keep the monitor off before turning on the computer it seems to turn on okay. Sometimes the flashing does happen so slap the back of the screen and it comes on. Annoying to say the least.

I suspect that you either have a loose connection or more likely bad solder on one of your boards. Check out this link for videos on opening the unit
http://www.lcdrepair.us/Installation.html
Iwould check all conections for a tight fit and closely examine the solder on the boards. You can use a pencil or something non conducting to push on individual parts after opening the back to isolate the problem..

The screen on my computer (dell E153FP 15" lcd) keeps going black everytime I turn it on. I can still see a very dark picture and the green light is still on but I can't see much. Usually I just turn it...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Please disconnect the Monitor Data cable from Computer.
If you see Dell Colored bars, it means, monitor is working fine,
If still black, please ask for replacement, since Monitors have 3 years of warranty if not purchased with the computer.

Now connect the cable back to computer and turn the computer off by holding the power button on computer and turn it back on...

Blinking Green shows that computer is in sleep mode......

Hope this should resolve the issue.

Dell touch screen monitor not lighting

Repairing the Dell E153FP with this complaint is not that hard but one that should be done by a qualified service technician or monitor repair specialist. Usually when you have this type of problem it is because either the inverter board, filter capacitors or the main board has one or more burnt components.
Any TV/LCD repair man can test this out for you if you don't mind paying them to do tht typical charges at our shop for such a diagnosis run around 35-50 dollars... this cost is usually included if you have them repair the item for you.
