Question about Husqvarna Viking 1

Changing light bulb on viking designer 1

This is so simple, someone MUST have the answer. Both light bulbs have burned out and I bought replacements. I can't even remove the one right next to the needle, so I will worry about that another day. The main one under the shield came right out, but when I put in the replacement bulb, it still doesn't work. Since I was wise enough to buy more than one, I tried another one to see if I didn't just have a bad bulb. That one didn't work either. My sewing machine repair shop is closed due to a flood. Is there a fuse to replace or some other simple solution? I'm in the dark here (literally).

When one faulty, both do not work. replace faulty one & both will then work.

The Rest of the Story:

I finally took my Designer 1 to a repair shop. Evidentally the connection was loose on one bulb and the other bulb was broken off and that was why I couldn't get it out. Thanks for solution suggestions. I feel better knowing that I couldn't have fixed myself anyway. That is why God invented repair shops.

SOURCE: Husqvarna Viking Designer I breaking needles

Dls8864's suggestion was a very good suggestion - make sure the metal stitch plate is pushed all the way to the back. Also make sure that the thread is feeding freely - if it is catching on something it can cause the needle to be pulled aside and make it break. Does the design fit properly inside the hoop you are using? If the foot and/or needle strike against the side of the hoop, that will cause a breakage. Is the bobbin thread okay - not making a bird's nest underneath?

How do I change the light bulb

remove the end cover ( screw at the back and hinge out or any other method of removing the end cover
that will reveal the bulb holder on some machines it is necessary to undo the screws holding the holder so that access to the bulb is allowed
make sure that the power is off and disconnected at the power point
the bulb will be most probably be screw it type but some are baynot type ( press in and 1/4 turn
only use the correct bulb in replacing as the wrong bulb will cause the holder to burn from the heat

I just plugged in my sewing machine into a new apartments socket. This machine has always worked. I smelled a strange odor, and went to get scissors. When I returned the machine was completely dead. Did...

1. Have you tried it in another socket? Check the light bulb to ensure it isn't rubbing against something (smell).
2. After you try the machine in a new socket make sure the on/off switch is set to on. Is the bulb lit? Replace it if not. Also, check the outlet with something else electrical to make sure it is working.
3. Make sure the cord is attached securely to the machine.
4. If these checks hasn't worked your next move is to go to your repair shop.

Light bulb keeps blowing

The light from a light bulb is caused by the metal filament being white hot, over 1000 degrees Centigrade, so touching hot isn't too much in those circumstances! However there may be a ventilation problem in the bulb area but our machines are just the same in the bulb area. A bulb that has gone black has had an air leak into the glass envelope and this it may well be a just poor quality bulb.
Are you getting the correct bulb? Some shops will supply one for a normal light which has a weaker construction and is not suited to vibration and working in an enclosed area. If you (or the shop) use a bulb with a higher wattage than specified with the good intention of supplying a better light it could also be supplying more heat....
A genuine Janome bulb - if you can get one - may cost more but should last a lot longer. I don't want to say your sewing supply shop is not providing the right bulb but ....

The other possibility is that you have just had a run of bad luck to counteract someone else's good luck of not having a bulb blow. Sorry (but thanks!).

Finally, try to avoid touching the bulb with your bare hands when you fit the new one. All peoples, everybody's, hands have a natural layer of oils on the surface that can cause hot spots on a bulb surface and make it blow. If you have any acetone type thinners (nail varnish remover) give the bulb a wipe over with that before fitting to make sure it is thoroughly clean and use a piece of new clean cloth to hold it when you are fitting the bulb.

Good luck

Suddenly LS-2000 stopped working, just a month back we bought it. Even the bulb is not glowing, please someone help me with this..

Take it back to the store, get a replacement. If it is under warranty you don't want to be futzing about inside. Just go get another one.

Microwave oven RM-691 -- The oven light has gome out and I cannot seem to find where the light came from as there is no light bulb in sight. Can you help? It is an old machine made by Riccar Japan

Ok. I know that this question is old, but on the offhand that someone else is looking, I'll give input. The bulb that came out of mine is a Okusun 120V/15W bayonet mount, twin lead. The bulb I replace it with is a Sylvannia T7 number 15T7DC/BL/12 rated at 120V and 15W.

IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR AROUND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT DON'T DO THIS. There are high voltage capacitors in this unit. Make sure you are unplugged and leave it to allow voltage to drain from the capacitors. By the way, I also found a fuse 15 amp if yours has stopped working.

Take the six screws from the top panel off. Two on top and four on rear of microwave. I also took the right side panel off (looking at the microwave), but I don't think you have to.

One screw holds down the bayonet mount and allows the removal and replacement of the bulb.

Replace in reverse order and you're good to go.

Need a small light bulb for Janome 150 My excell. can't believe the price, is there any substitude

I'm not familiar with your machine, but nearly all bulbs conform to a 'standard' format, even if not necessarily 'common'. Take your bulb to your nearest electrical wholesaler and ask there. They can probably assist with a generic replacement or otherwise point you in the right direction.

How do i replace a bulb in the imagine babylock

Unplug the machine.

Open the front cover and cutting blade cover.

Remove the light bulb and replace with same (15w/120v) screw-in type or if the machine uses the bayonet type (no screw threads) 10w/240v.

There is a bulb remover that you can purchase/order from a BabyLock dealer.

If you cannot get the bulb out, call a dealer and ask if someone there can help you and when could you come in and not have to leave the serger.

I bought a new sewing machine light bulb to replace the one that burned out but can't get it ot screw in the socket. Are all sewing machines bulbs universal?

your bulb part number is X53061020 and no the blubs are not universal I would suggest taking the old bulb with you along with the part number I gave you in order to get the right bulb when you go to the store.

If you bought this machine at WalMart, I recommend you return and the go to JoAnn Fabrics. Walmart can buy millions of these machines and pay next to nothing for them. I don't even suggest a beginner buy this machine.
