Yes it could be the interlock.
power is passed through the interlock on to the rest of the machine. The actual latching shut of the door is a simple spring-loaded mechanism where the latch just slips into the door catch and the door stays closed. Locking the door is a separate process.

Hi ganyam,
More than likely the Timer / Electronic Board has blown, or one of its connections or component have blown.
You can either inspect the Board/Timer and see if you can replace the component or fix a dry joint. Or you can replace the Board/Timer.
It is common for an overload to send power through to an electronic board and burn it out.
