I want to update my bios

Oh?

Kvpsy,

The information tells me;

1) Operating System: Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 (SP/3)

2) Processor: (CPU) Intel Pentium 4, 3.06GHz,
(Or also stated as 3.066MegaHertz) {3.066MHz}
Uses an LGA775 processor socket.

Front Side Bus = 133MHz.
(Intel processors are 'Quad Pumped'. 133MHz is the Internal Clock. 533MHz is the External Clock.
4 x 133 = 532. Number is rounded up to 533)

Scroll down.
Prescott Core, 90nm architecture.
Pentium 4 HT model 524.
sSpec number on top of the Processor, (Heatsink removed), is either
SL8ZZ, or SL9CA

3) Motherboard manufacturer name, and model number:
Intel D101GGC
Version AAD357

3) Motherboard chipset:

4) GPU: (Graphics Processing Unit, or slang = graphics chipset)
Built into the motherboard chipset; ATI Radeon 200 series with 256MB's of graphics ram memory.
(? Really? I would think more like 64MB for Integrated Graphics.
Are you running a graphics card, in the PCI-Express slot on the motherboard? Got one in one of the PCI slots?)

5) Ram Memory:
2 Ram memory slots
DDR Sdram at 400MegaHertz. Also known as PC3200.

Maximum TOTAL amount is 2048MB. (2GB)
Amount of ram memory that installed now, 1024MegaByte. (Or also stated as 1GigaByte)
960MB is what shows.
(64MB's of ram memory is being borrowed)

32MB DRAM modules. Memory module/s ('Stick') use 5 Volts (DC)
60nanosecond to 70ns, Cas Latency of 3. (CL3)

6) Harddrive:

BIOS String ID = GC11010N.86A.0311.2006.0420.1525

NOW, the message you received is -

SUGGESTION: Are you looking for a BIOS upgrade?

System BIOS is more than 2 years old. (WELL NO KIDDING!!)

Video BIOS is more than 2 years old. (Yeah? AND?)

A) AS SOON as you purchase a motherboard, the BIOS program is ALREADY out of date.

BIOS upgrades are made about 2 weeks, after the motherboard hits the market.

TWO WEEKS!!

What does this mean?

It means LEAVE IT ALONE.

If everything is working OK, DO NOT perform a BIOS upgrade.

Why?

Because for;
1) IF, the power goes out to your house/business, when you are downloading, the BIOS upgrade WILL NOT be completed.
What does that mean?
Take the motherboard out of your computer, and use it for a Frisbee.

2) IF, the BIOS upgrade is too new, and/or NOT compatible, AND if you do not save the old BIOS version, take the motherboard out of your computer, and use it for a Frisbee.

IS there a cure for ruining the BIOS program in your BIOS chipset, on your motherboard, and downloading, and installing the original one?

SURE!

Take it to a PRO, who will download the ORIGINAL BIOS, to a Floppy Disk, (Or disks), using an internal Floppy Disk drive, connected with a floppy disk ribbon cable, to your floppy drive connection on your motherboard, and put it on your motherboard.

MAYBE.

(Not shouting. Illustrating a point)

OR, if the BIOS chipset is removable, (It is soldered on the motherboard), perhaps another BIOS chipset is available, for a PRO to solder the good one back on the motherboard.

You HAVE been advised.

Hello! my problem is that my two USB ports is blown. Now I want to connect more USB port on the motherboard via cable, but none matches the port that the USB or sb_link, jp1... Can you tell me which port...

You will need to get a usb expansion card. These can be found at Best Buy, Newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, pc-connection.com etc...

Some manufactures ship with newer motherboards a usb expansion slot using the motherboard jumper configuration but your motherboard must first be able to support this type of expansion.

I recommend the pci usb expansion. They plug into your PCI slot and give you 2-4 extra USB slots in the back of your computer.

Upgrade to windows 7 caused a heap of problems

Have you tried other USB mouse?

It might just be a problem with your USB mouse, the other thing is you can also try plugging-in USB devices on your USB ports to test them like (USB flash drives)

You can also try to use PS/2 mouse to check if the problem is really the ports.

With regards to the drivers

It seems like you need to download those.

Because even you downgraded your system to XP, still the OS needs the driver for them.

Run "Windows Update", to see if it will find updated device-drivers for the specific USB hardware on the motherboard.

Access the ASUS web-site, and search for 'P6T', and search for USB device-drivers for Windows 7 -- if none are found, try the device-drivers for Windows Vista.

If the usb ports don't seam to have power, I suspect that at some time something was plugged into one of the ports, either at an angle or upside down, shorting the +5 vdc supply. Usually the supply voltage is fed to the ports thru a "zero ohm resistor", basically a fuse that blows protecting the power supply. You may be able to find and replace it but much easier is to install a 4 port usb pci card. They're cheap and you can go to 2.0.

A USB mouse will work but the PS/2 mouse failed. What causes it?

Hi melch, On the PS/2 mouse, chances are that the surface mounted fusible link/resistor supplying the +5VDC is open. It is normally very near the PS/2 port and marked [0] or labeled F???. This can be verified by measuring the absence/presence of +5 at pin 4 of the connector. In some cases, it is the I/O chip that gets damaged. Re "only two(2)USB port" aside from the 2 rear USB ports, the Asus CUV4X-C has another pair of USB connectors that are normally connected to the front panel of the casing. It is located very near the motherboard battery. Re "...prompting...high speed USB port...", normally by updating your OS (say XP to SP2) or downloading/installing latest VIA 4 in 1 Drivers should make your USB 2.0 compatible. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
