If the notebook is under warranty IMMEADIATELY contact HP. Get a free hard drive from them.
If not then unfortunately you need to buy a new hard drive.
Note: Buy a HP Hard drive because other third party hard drive may not work.

You might find a "used" one via eBay, but will it work?

Instead, access http://support.hp.com and get a genuine HP replacement part, and then find an HP-authorized technician to disassemble your laptop, remove the motherboard, install the replacement, and "test" the computer.

Power cord
You can buy a power plug and solder it to the wires. You need to be careful so that the polarity of the plug is correct for the laptop, if you reverse the wires you can damage the laptop. If you are not sure, get a computer service techo to do the fix.

Look up the voltage acceptable for a HP  6715b laptop in the manual  that came with it. Go to Radio Shack and buy a $9.00 Grounded Adapter Plug. Be sure you take the HP power cord.
