Samsung Model: HP-R4262 42" Plasma Problem, pink pixelation/ghosting

I have a Samsung Model: HP-R4262 42" Plasma. 2.5 years old. Recently I began to noticing a light pink area of shimmer or ghost imaging on portions of the screen showing bight/white or bright/blue images. Especially when watching sports in HD. The pink shimmering or pool of color does not stay in one place and only starts to appear after the TV is on for an hour or so. Is this overheating? I cannot find anything on the net referencing this problem.

Thanks. Any idea on how much something like that costs?

Wow! Talk about two conflicting views. I will take it into a certified service center I guess. Was hoping there was a fix I could do.

Guys: I have similar issues with my Samsung S-5053 50" plasma. It's not quite 2 yrs old. When I power it on, there is a burst of red dots in the lower center part of the screen. After about 20-30 minutes, this seems to resolve itself. But after hours of watching, I also get a shimmery blue/green haze which will outline things on the screen... again, this seems to happen when watching sports in HD, but I would assume that any channel would do this. Once it begins, it seems like it will continue to do it until the unit cools down, suggesting it has something to do with overheating. Anyone with experience here? Last night during the World Series, the colors were all over the screeen and some were blipping all over the place too. Pretty much unwatchable.

Wow, I've been an installer and salesman in the consumer electronics industry since before the first plasma TV came out (Phillips 42" and Fujitsu 42" in 1996) and this is the first time I've ever seen that kind of an answer. "Take this to a repairman and he can add more plasma" what is the repairman a doctor. If it were that easy no one would ever have to upgrade or replace their screens. You can't add more plasma to a screen, if you don't believe me call Samsung and ask them for yourself like I did. I was actually so dumbfounded by your answer that I called a tech friend of mine at Samsung and asked him, his answer; "does this guy work for you?" I told him no and he said, "I was going to tell you to fire him because that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone tell a customer".
What you need to do is take you plasma TV to an AUTHORIZED Samsung dealer/repair shop and inquire about the hazing/ghosting problem with them. Follow this link to find an authorized repair center near you: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/repairlocation/serviceLocator.do?group=&type=&subtype=&model_nm=HP-R4262&dType=D&mType=UM&vType=R&prd_ia_cd=&acc_ia_fl=&disp_nm=HP-R4262

    Help straight from Samsung

With proper care, your TV will give you many years of service.

Please follow these guidelines to get the maximum performance from your TV.

    Identifying Problems

    • Do not put the TV near extremely hot, cold, humid or dusty places.

    • Do not put the TV near appliances that create magnetic fields.

    • Keep the ventilation openings clear.

    • Do not place the TV on a rough and slanted surface, such as cloth or paper.

    Liquids

    • Do not place liquids near or on the TV.

    Cabinet

    • Never open the cabinet or touch the parts inside.

    • Wipe your TV with a clean, dry cloth. Never use water, cleaning fluids, wax, or chemicals.

    • Do not put heavy objects on top of the cabinet.

    Temperature

    • If your TV is suddenly moved from a cold to a warm place, unplug the power cord for at least two hours so that moisture that may have formed inside the unit can dry completely.

Onece the plasma heats up it shrinks a little, i think the cause is that you are low on plasma, so when i heats it shrinks and since the plasma cycles, the area low on plasma wil move slowly around the screen, take this to a repairman and more plasma can be added to it.

First of all try, changing the input device to some other and see whether you see the same problem. Then connect your present input to a different TV and see. If you feel the input is ok, and it is a problem in the display, this is a case to be handled by a qualified service technician.

I had the same problem. Luckilly I had an extended warranty. Repair tech said it blew three main boards inside and to fix it out of pocket would have been more than the screen was worth. Hope this helps.

Samsung HD tv help

Is it a Plasma Television? I recently had a customer have the same issue with a 2 year old model Samsung 50" plasma TV. In his case one Of the computer panels failed. He didn't have a service plan and the warrenty was out, so i directed him to Samsungs help line. They inturn directed him to a authorized repair center. Repairs were roughly $800. Thats a possibility but it may not be the same as your issue. Try leaving your TV running for a little while when it has the issue, and see if it eventually goes away. Some older plasma models have started to require a warm up time for the pixel cells. This has been a down fall of plasma that for the most part no longer exists on newer models.
I hope eveything works out.

Have a great day
