Question about Minolta magicolor 2350 Laser Printer

1 Answer

Printer will not boot beyond Starting System message

The message "Starting System" is in the display and the printer does nothing. Have checked all consumables and paper paths but cannot see anything wrong. Has the printer died?

    Thanks very much - all the doors seem OK so maybe it's a busted micro switch. I'll have to get a repair company to look at it.

No, you know how you can open the front, or how you can open side compartments, well, one of the switches that tell the printer the door is closed, is not working, so it thinks it is open and it will noot boot, but no error mesage can be shown, because it has not finished booting.

MP640 - After changing the ink-cartridge ,a message appear. "The following cartridge is unknown", U043

I would try opening the printer, make sure the ink cartridge is fully seated. Once that is checked, unplug the printer, wait a minute or so, then plug the printer back in and try to turn it on. If the problem persists, then try a new ink cartridge. If that doesn't work, there is something major wrong with the printer itself, and will be beyond anyone but a Canon repair facility to repair.

Invalid header

You are seeing the "Invalid Header" message on the LCD display on the T2250 because the pritner is in "boot" mode, which is the firmware download mode and is detecting data being recived is not a correct firmware file.
The most likely cause for this problem is the pritner has defaulted to 'Firmware Download Mode" due to a problem with either corruption to the firmware or damaged / faulty EEPROMS. When print jobs are sent to the pritner the pritner is expecting firmware and recognises the data it is reciving is not correct for a firmware file.

The solutions to this problem are;

  1. Power the printer OFF, disconnect the printer from the computer system, and any external print server (eg JetDirect etc). Power the printer back on, if the error is resolved check the method of connecting the printer to the computer system to ensure there is no damage to cables etc.
    If the printer displays "BOOT" on the display this indicates the printer is in firmware download mode.
  2. If the display reads BOOT first try reloading the firmware you may find details and firmware on the following web site,
    http://support.dascomeurope.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=123&Itemid=48&lang=en
  3. If loading the firmware fails this indicates a logic board fault, the main logic board would need to be replaced to resolve the issue

BOOT displayed on LCD display

The 'Boot' message indicates the printer has switched to the firmware download mode as it has not been able to load the firmware.
This can happen because the firmware has become corrupt, in this case you can reload the firmware and the printer will be back working.
This problem can also be seen if flash memory has become damaged, this will not be recovered by reloading the firmware, the logic board will need to be replaced i you are unable to rectify the problem by reloading the firmware.
The firmware for the T2155 can be found on the Dascom website at;

The display does not work anymore.

Hi, Printer Has Blank Display Issue Description: Some customers may report that the control panel display is not working on their LJ2400 Series printer. Most of the units are right out of the box. This goal of this document is to help you troubleshoot the problem and provide a solution for the customer. Symptoms Customers will see: Printer powers on, motor rotation and fan sounds can be heard during boot cycle, but the control panel display is blank and there is no backlight . Printer prints engine test page. Printer powers on, motor rotation and fan sounds can be heard during boot cycle, but there is backlight . Printer prints engine test page. Troubleshooting requested by engineers: BACKLIGHT PRESENT, BUT NO TEXT DISPLAYS Disconnect all connections to printer except for power cord. Plug power cord directly into wall outlet and power cycle. Can motor rotation sounds be heard? Reseat memory DIMM in slot. Check cable connections on formatter ? particularly control panel power (J4), ECU-Formatter flat ribbon cable (J5), and power from the ECU (J6). NO BACKLIGHT Verify that the engine is powering up when power cycled by listening for motor rotation sounds. Ask the customer to print an engine test page. (See photo below for access to engine test page button.) If engine does NOT print test page, problem is with the engine, not formatter or control panel. (Service required.) Check cable connections on formatter ? particularly control panel power (J4), ECU-Formatter flat ribbon cable (J5), and power from the ECU (J6). Verify boot select jumper on the formatter PCB is installed on the bottom two (correct) pins (see photo below) to ensure the unit ?boots? from the firmware chip on-board the formatter. NOTE: The BOOT SELECT position (top two pins) is only used to boot from a FW-loaded compact flash card. If incorrect, reseat boot select jumper onto the bottom two (correct) pins. Attempt to print a configuration page ? ?back? button (x3, to clear any undisplayed messages) -- check button -- down arrow -- check button -- down arrow -- check button. If configuration page prints, verify contents and, assuming you find nothing wrong with configuration, you may assume that the problem lies with the display portion of the control panel. Display message won't stop: Press Enter to align cartridges.

I honestly don't know how I solved it; I did everything your forum suggests at least two times (restarting, disconnecting, re-installing, etc), but nothing would work. After I got up the next morning (four hours sleep!), I did it all again, and this time it worked. I did two things differently that may have worked. Somewhere in the owners manual, it says to wait for quite a long time (like over 5 minutes--I don't have the manual with me now). Also, it says to NOT turn the printer on until AFTER installing the software. Those two little items may have made the difference, but the main idea of reinstalling came from you. Thanks!

"Unable To Change" message. Tried all suggested fixes none work. Can you provide any additional help beyond the standard fixes. Nothing is jammed, turning it off for even days doesn't remove the error...

press menu then start bk copy then fourtimes arrow up. what error code does the machine display?

In case you have an error 50 you have to open the printer cover and to reinsert the encoder strip which is out of position into the ph. This occurs sometimes after a serious paper jam.

search error 50 for dcp 110, 115 or mfc 210 here. its the same procedure.
