Same exact problem only now none of the buttons work except cancel

Our key pad is failing, too. Started with the outside keys on both sides, and now seems to be moving towards the center.

I have the same problem. Some of the keys do not respond. I took the keypad panel from my neighbor's oven (same model) and swap it with mine. It works. It is the keypad that is defective. The cheapest one I can find on the web is about $230. Does anyone know where to get it for less?

Having the same problem as described in the original post and now nothing works. When I turn the circut breaker on, it is on auto mode, it starts by itself and heats upto 350 but constantly beeping. Looks like some bad oman got into the oven.

I used the oven earlier tonight and it worked just fine. Now I can't get the light to turn off on the front panel, or set it to bake. It is less than 4 years old. I would love to hear a solution, less buy a new oven.

Great, I have the same problem and it only 18 months old.

This is DMS10 original poster, glad to see all have the same issues, not really:( I tried to blame it on the cleaning practices, i.e. spraying cleaners directly on the display, instead of on the rag then the display. My wife found out the hard way. Anyway, before finding out this cleaning method, I checked all the electronics, relays, temperature cutouts, etc. Then, after hours and some times days of troubleshooting, I thought, what about the touch panel contacts. Well, I actually peeled off the touch panel display and found that the flat panel ribbon where it comes off the back of the touch panel and into the back of the electronic board, was full of grease or cleaners or a mixture of both, cleaned it off and found that the tin thin layers on the ribbon cable had severed in multiple locations, more than likely shorted out. My unit was only two years old as well, new home builders in N. Texas. Im wondering if there is a recall on this oven, ?? anyone find out, please let me know// dmsv10@gmail.com Thanks. OH, and your right, you cant  just buy the touch panel without buying the entire stainless steel panel that it sticks too. So you have to buy the 230-260 piece. Called sears and maytag, and they told me that they do not sell these anymore as a part, they used to, now they need to make more money off us consumers, so they care...

Same problem here! About 6 buttons out now, but sounds like I can expect more to deteriorate going forward. Called Maytag and they said no recall on panel...clearly a defective product!

  • kbjnet Apr 03, 2009

Same problem with the "touch panel". The "bake & Light" touch panels do not work. Seriously folks......this Unit is a bunch of Far East Crapola made in a sweat shop in China! No more MATAG for me! Their washers are **** as well. And by the way, LG sucks too!

If anyone can find a replace control panel, let me know!

The touch control panel is a piece of ****! Call MAYTAG, and get a new one, you should still be under warranty. Make them send you the part direct ( its the WHOLE front top panel ), then call a tech to put it in for $50 bucks. Takes about 10 minutes to do. The panel plugs into the electrical Board behind the panel.

FYI...the Top panel includes the Stainless Panel + the Touch controls! Its all one integrated part. The part that goes bad is the "cable contacts" that latch to electrical panel.
FYI....the Cable is made of "thin clear film " similar to Film you put in a Camera.

Ours is a few years old and slowly began losing button functions. Bake went, then convect bake. now nothing. It all looks like it is working most buttons beep (some are dead). What disappointing quality for a Maytag. Sounds like the only solution is replacing the entire top unit and housing. Great. With labor thats over 300. Sounds like the company should be standing behind its product and fixing this recurrent issue.

Most of the buttons on the panel do not respond when pressed. incl;uding, convection, setup, rapid preheat

Are the oven doors locked as well, check if the front panel lock is active. Press and hold both the upper oven Cancel and Cook & Hold buttons for 3 seconds (or a bit longer). (Off should disappear from the display and the Lock indicator will flash.)

If that doesn't help, try pressing Cancel. Then try pressng the Cancel and Cook&Hold keypads together. If this doesn't help, then the control panel or the control itself is damaged and probably needs to be replaced. (Touch pads like this have electrical contacts on a membrane that is impossible to fix long term by cleaning the unit.)

For a parts list and prices see: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Jenn-air-Parts/Wall-oven-Parts/Model-JJW9130DDS/1266/0125300/M0603043/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= or http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170052&diagram_id=28429593 . Specifically part 1A and 2 are suspect. The control panel is the more likely part to fail (much like a membrane keyboard).

Most Jenn-Air appliance manuals are available here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US . Fill in Consumer and then the model number and press the right arrow button. The direct link to the manual is http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%20W10176680.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Only some of the keys on the keypad of my oven work. I have replaced the control board (computer board), but they keys still don't work. What specific part do I need to replace?

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. You didnt have to change the computer you need to replace the control panel. The control panel is the whole front piece which has the touch membrane on it. This is common on these units.

I have a Magtag wall oven MEW6530DDS model. The panel buttons do not work. I've had the oven about 3 yrs. Do I need to replace the control panel or control board?

The control board. As long as none of the buttons appear to be stuck. Press each button one at a time feeling for the retraction or click. If this checks good replace the control board. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenerc.html

HI. This will be the actual control board in this case, that will be the culprit. the control board, and touch pad, are integrated. These symptoms are indicating that the key pad membrane is damaged. This will require you to replace the entire control board. Once the control is replaced, these issues will be corrected.

GE JTP70 convection oven - defaults to self-cleaning mode

I believe your control board is going bad. This isn't that expensive. However, get one from a GE parts store. They tend to be better priced.

Erroe code 5ab

According to the manual, this mode is SAB and not 5AB. SAB stands for sabath mode and lasts for 72 hours. The mode may be canceled by holding in the clock button for 3 seconds. This mode was activated by holding in the clock button for 3 seconds. My wife did the same thing when resetting the clock for daylight savings time this year. Resetting the power does not reset SAB mode.
