Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Color printing After printing some things in grayscale, I have unchecked "grayscale" and have checked "High Quality" and tried to print in color. It comes out all in shades of red. I have recalibrated and also turned the printer off and then back on. All to no avail. What can I do to correct this. This happened once before but I can't remember what I did to get it back. I remember it was something simple.

When I printed my picture it was very orange. I've had deep cleaning few times. Nozzle check pattern shows 6C-Cyan is not working though it still has some ink left (Problem was still the same when I replaced with new one). Could you help me please?

Maybe when you were setting up for grayscale, you went to the "Effects" tab and selected Monochrome with Pink (or Sepia)?

I cannot figure out how to tell printer to print in black or color. Right now it is printing in black but I would like to change to color. How do I change to color?

You don't say what operating system you are using, but if it's Windows you should see a dialog box when you send something to print. Depending on the version of Windows you will see various tabs on the dialog box, probably marked 'Properties' or something similar. Select that tab and change the setting for colour printing.
If you would like more detailed help please advise what operating system and version you are using.

Printer full of ink, but will pring pages either blank of with smeared ink.

Follow these steps to check the print settings for your print job.
  1. In the software program you are trying to print from, click File and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
  2. Select your product, and then click Properties . The printer Properties dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Printing shortcuts tab.
  4. Under Printing shortcuts , click the type of job you are trying to print.
  5. Review the following options, and then make any necessary changes.
    • Paper size : Make sure that the selected option matches your paper size.
    • Paper type : If one of the options matches your paper type exactly, select that option.
    • Print quality : If you are not satisfied with your printed page quality, or want more densely printed prints, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, or for lighter prints, decrease the print quality.
  6. Click the Features tab.
  7. Check the Print in Grayscale setting
    • If you are trying to print in color, select Color Options , and then make sure that Print in Grayscale is not selected.
    • If you are printing a black and white image, select Print in Grayscale to fix streaking in black areas.
  8. Click OK , and then click OK again to start the print job.
Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
Open HP Solution Center , then click Settings , then Printer Toolbox .
Select the Services tab.
Click Print PQ (print quality) Diagnostic Page .

Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
Open HP Solution Center , then click Settings , then Printer Toolbox .
Select the Services tab, then click A- Click Align Printheads or
B- Click Clean Printheads .
C- Click Calibrate Linefeed .

If, after repeated printhead cleaning, the Print Quality Diagnostic page shows white lines across the color blocks in Test Pattern 2 (but no white lines in the gray blocks in Test Pattern 3), one or both of the printheads will have to be replaced. The Print Quality Diagnostic page shows which printhead should be replaced.

Printing is in green

Check the print settings. I guess you are printing black texts in black color without proper settings.

Open the Printers and Faxes from the Control panel, (or from the Start Menu), right-click the printer's icon, select "Printing Preference" and from the printing preference window, click "Features" as shown below,
2ced6a9.jpg

Click "print in grayscale" then select, "Black ink Only", click "Apply" then "Ok", now try print again. You'll need to restart the program (if you are printing from a program like Ms-word, etc..). This should fix the issue.

This happens when the color is set to high quality, means it uses only the color cartridge instead of the black cartridge.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck

Thanks for using FixYa.

Only prints in grayscale

First I must agree the first solution was not proper.

I have some questions and something you may want to try.

did this just start happening? have you tried printing color from a different file or document to verify the problem occurs every time regardless of what is being printed?

if you have tried this then may I suggest:
--------------------------------------------------------------
at top of browser screen try
((clicking))
file
Print
Click properties button
once print menu opens click color tab
Make sure your gray scale only button is unchecked
and color or high quality is checked.
also, view your choices for color management.

You may find the answer to your problem by doing this.
If this does not work remove ink cartridges again and replace.
if it is a new cartridge make sure tape tab has been removed.
I have had customers forget to do this and it is a common mistake.

If problem still persists. buy a new color cartridge this will help determine if it was a defective cartridge or print head.

hope this helps .. good luck and sorry for your first answer and experience.

HP L7700 officejet printer leaves streaks on black ink lines only. Have cleaned heads repeatedly, changed black and color cartridges - nothing works.

Print in grayscale (black area streaking only) If the streaks are in a black area of a black and white printout, change to grayscale printing.
NOTE: This step does not apply to color printouts.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected and click Properties .
  3. Click the Color tab, and select Print Grayscale and High Quality .

My 2480 hp new printer doesn t print with colors.what s wrong?

The typical cause of not getting color from the PC (yet the test page prints is color) is the printer driver is setup to print in grayscale.

Check the settings from Control Panel, Printers. Right click on the printer icon and choose Properties. In the Advanced (or Setup) tab is an option for "Print In Grayscale".

If this is checked, then this would be the answer. Uncheck it, click Apply, then OK, and close the Printers window.

If this box is not checked, then you may not have the correct driver installed.

The following HP WEB page is the location from which you can download the most recent driver for your printer:

Can't print in color on my Canon printer

If you go here you can download or view a manual for your printer, with detailed instructions on changing the print cartridge settings in windows or mac.
If you go here, you'll be taken to the home support page for your printer, where you can enter a search for "print in color", and detailed instructions will follow.
You go to control panel>printers>print preferences> and uncheck the grayscale printing and set the color to auto.
Issue: Image prints black and white instead of color....See below.
Solution: Uncheck Grayscale Printing checkbox (Windows)

Unchecking Grayscale Printing Follow the steps below to change the Grayscale Printing option:
  1. On the Windows desktop, click 'Start', point to 'Settings', then click 'Printers' (Windows XP: On the Start menu, click 'Printers and Faxes').

For Windows Vista: Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
  2. Windows 2000/XP/Vista: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Printing Preferences'. Windows 98/Me: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Properties'.

  3. On the Main tab, click on the 'Grayscale Printing' check-box to remove the check-mark.

  4. Click the 'OK' button to save the setting.

Prints in color for test print but not for real print

First thing to try is to insure that the "Print in Grayscale" box is not checked.

Click on Start>Printers and Faxes. Right click on the icon of your DJ5550 printer and select "Properties".

First make sure on the "Quality" tab, that you have not selected "Fast Draft".

Then click on the "Color" tab and see if the box is checked by "Print in Grayscale". If it is uncheck it. Problem solved. If it is not checked Comment back and let me know.

Print Quality

  1. In Windows, click on the Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. Choose Printers and Other Hardware from the menu that opens.
  3. Choose View Installed Printers or Fax Printers.
  4. On the window that opens, look for your printer's name. Right click on the printer's icon and choose Printing Preferences.
  5. On the Print Quality tab, choose Draft or Fast (varies depending on the printer).
  6. If you want to conserve your color ink, choose Grayscale Printing on the same tab (just remember you'll have to uncheck that box if you want to print something in color).
  7. Press OK. That's it; now your printer will automatically print in Draft Mode (and in grayscale, if you chose that option) until you change it back. To change it, simply follow the same instructions and choose Standard for print quality
