My MS word files are not opening. How can i help open files?

For xlsx files, they are actually a group of files compressed in Zip file format. Therefore, sometimes, if the corruption is only caused by the Zip file, then you can use Zip repair tools such as WinRAR to repair the file, as follows:

1. Assuming the corrupt Excel file is a.xlsx, then you need to rename it to a.zip
2. Start WinRAR, go to "Tools > Repair Archive" to repair a.zip and generated a fixed file a_fixed.zip.
3. Rename a_fixed.zip back to a_fixed.xlsx
4. Using Excel to open a_fixed.xlsx.

You mean the Word file has already been encrypted from opening or viewing? If so, I think you can get this MS Office password recovery utility to find the forgotten combination, it can automatically find your forgotten password for protected Office Word doc, Excel, PowerPoint etc. No matter the document is password protected to be opened or editing, it will help. Hi, MS Word files have .doc extension (Word 97-2003 Format). Since launch of MS Office 2007, the files have the extension .docx. These files can be opened with earlier versions of MS Word (97, 2002, 2003 etc) by installing the compatibility pack, which is available at Microsoft Official Site. It is not at all necessary to Buy/ Install Office 2007 for opening such files. Visit the above link, download the compatibility pack/ converter and enjoy!

If your company was using MS Office 2003 then you're using MS Office 2007. Make sure you're saving the file in a compatible format. For example, if you've create a report on excel file using MS Excel 2007 then you should save the file in .xls (compatible format) instead of .xlsx (2007 format. In that case you can open your file on both versions. Also when you're saving other office files make sure it's in compatible format.

Hi .odt files will not be opened by MS word as a default. Most likely MS Word does not have the latest service pack. For Windows 2003, download Office 2003 SP2 as a minimum (available from Microsoft)
Download, Install and reboot computer if required.
When PC starts, start up MS Word 2003 which will have SP2 installed.
Locate the ODT file and then double click it. As SP2 for Office 2003 is installed (or MS Word 2003) The file will now open. The formatting might be a little off, but for the most part, all the text will be there and you'll be able to edit and make changes as you see fit.

try to uninstall your ms office then re-install it

This problem come when you open the object file or class file .If you open the file in the corrct extension then this priblem is removed out.

when u are going to open ms word please insert the msoffice cd in cd rom.
then open ms word etc., that will take some files from cd.

open office files dont work for ms word files. they are working in the same flatform but you cant open the file using the prescribed format. You need to check your cd installer. The setup icon should be the one to run in installing your MS Office 2007. Maybe its true that your installer cd was corrupted. try to secure a new one by purchasing a licensed one but if you like free just look for any computer technician in your area they have it if you're friends they will give it for free.I have an installer just email me [email protected].
