Question about Insignia D400a PC Desktop

1 Answer

Internet Explorer I have an Insignia computer that i bought from Best Buy 5 years ago or so. Often when i close an internet explorer page i get a pop up window indicating, "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It give me the option to send error report or don't send the problem notice to Microsoft. When it closes all open explorer pages close as well. I downloaded explorer 7 and the service pack 3 and that did not help. Any ideas?

I think your operating system is windowsxp. i find that sp3 have lots of bugs(errors) so better use your previous sp2. i think you need to perform fresh installation operating system. this might help you out about that IE problem.

Notes
  • If you close all visible windows, but still get an error message when trying to reset, you might have programs running that are not visible. Restart Windows, open Internet Explorer, and try resetting again.

  • To back up your home page or home page set before resetting Internet Explorer defaults, see Back up your home page or home page tabs.

  • If any of the categories fail to reset, it is because Internet Explorer could not access a file or registry setting. This can be caused by insufficient security privileges, files or settings being used by another program, or low memory or high CPU usage. You can either continue to use Internet Explorer without restoring these settings, or restart your computer and try to reset again.

  • If you are using Internet Explorer on a server and have turned off Enhanced Security Configuration or hardening (stronger security settings for use on servers), reset will go to client-level security. You must reinstall hardening if you want the increased security level. For more information on Enhanced Security Configuration, see Enhanced Security Configuration for Internet Explorer online.

Sometimes when I click on the Internet Explorer icon, and error message appears in front of a blank web page. The error message says "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Click to close program". When...

Try a scan with your virus scan, then with a malware scanner, i use Malwarebytes.
I would then use CCleaner, use the registry cleaner also.
This will clean out all your temp files, and remove any registry errors that may be causing IE from starting properly.
You could also use Firefox, or chrome as your browser if this does not fix it

Data execution

DEP (data execution prevention) attempts to separate "data" (such as the text of a webpage) from "instructions" ("move the string 'abc' to locations '12345/12346/12347'"), to prevent computer-hackers from introducing "data" (downloaded from a maliciously-constructed web-page) into an area marked as "instructions". The "threat" here is that the "data" will actually be "instructions" of the hacker's choosing, thus giving the hacker a chance to run instructions to completely "take-over" control of your computer.

Click "Start"
Click "All Programs"
Click "Accessories"
Click "System Tools"
Click "Internet Explorer (no add-ons)"
Do some web-surfing.
Close Internet Explorer.
If it closes "normally", then one of the "add-ons" that usually is loaded when Internet Explorer starts is causing the DEP exception.

Start Internet Explorer.
Click Tools
Click Manage Add-ons.
Choose one "suspicious" add-on, and "disable" it.
Close I.E.
If it closes normally, then that add-on should _stay_ as "disabled".
