Hi my washing machine is working properly. The dial that you select the washing programme keeps clicking round so it doesn't spin or wash. You can hear the motor working and go through a cycle but the drum doesn't go round and so no washing or spinning clothes.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (110.#######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive washers use a "Motor Coupler" between the motor and transmission.

It's used as a fail safe device and consists of three parts.

Two of the parts are the same, plastic units with three prongs that fit on one of the motor output shafts and the other on the transmission input shaft. Between them is a rubber piece with six holes.

The power from the motor is transmitted through the rubber piece to the transmission.

The other shaft on the motor directly drives the pump.

If the motor coupler is broken, or worn, the motor may not be able to send full power to the transmission for agitating or spinning.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet, pump, motor and motor mounting plate to inspect and replace the motor coupler.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

If the coupler looks damaged, it's a relatively easy fix.

Pry the plastic pieces from the motor and transmission. Some people use a claw hammer but I've found that using a small (6 inch) pry bar works well.

Carefully fit the plastic pieces over the motor and transmission shafts and press them in place (Use a 1/2" of larger socket to put pressure equally around the pieces.

Put the rubber piece on the transmission plastic piece.

Replace the motor mounting plate.

Carefully line up the plastic prongs on the motor based plastic piece to the three un-used holes in the rubber piece. If they don't line up right, the coupler could be damaged.

Mount the motor, don't forget the two screws, put the pump back on the motor and use its' clips.

Put the cabinet back on, don't forget to plug the lid switch back in and re-mount the console.

Hi i have an indesit w 123s washing machine, that set to any program it doesnt move on it just does that setting, then if you turn the machine off and set it to end program you can reset to rinse and the...

hello try restting it before you bin it
  1. Turn the washing machine off with the on off button.
  2. Turn the selector knob to a dot, or any off position
  3. Turn the washing machine back on and watch for rapid flashing on the neon light
  4. Turn the washing machine off and select the new program (or maybe spin)
  5. Turn it back on and the new program should start
NOTE: Resetting the timer selector knob as shown above may stop the clicking round, but if your washing machine has a fault, the clicking round may return when your washing machine encounters the fault again. If your washing machine's program selector knob is clicking round on its own, then read the section above Washing machine stops with lights flashing hope it helps

My indesit washer/dryer model w10 ,is not working.the programme dial keeps cliking round wont start a programme or take in water.

probably a main module fault but worth while checking for continuity thro the heater and that the pump and filter are ok. the idea is that when a fault is detected, the dial will click round indicating a fault but usually it is the module itself. expensive part. not worth repair

Washing machine will not drain

Please fill your washer with a very small amount of water, turn it to spin and tilt it back. You should be able to see the belt on the bottom turning your pump. I ask you to verify this because imporper belt tension or a bad thrust bearing can keep it from turning improperly. If it turns freely on this test, Then you have something plugged up. Drain the water out. Next unhook the hose that goes between the tub and the pump at the tub side. You can get sock or other small articals of clothing in there that will prevent draining. If that is clear. It is likely you have had another coin go through your hose that goes between the pump and the wall. They can get quite a ways in there and maytag hoses get smaller right before they end. If you have a coin in this area you will need to work it all of the way back to the pump side of the hose.

Gorenje WA1541 Washing machine

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

And pl rate me if helped.................
