I have an HP4550n Color laser printer and I get the error code above, but only when printing from Indesign 2.01 and only with some files! Doesn't matter whether I'm printing from Windows 2000, 98 or a Mac! This error code only comes up when printing from InDesign.... any ideas?
Same service error 49.4C02 when printing some PDF documents. Doucment prints ok when "Print as Image" is slected from the Advance button of the print dialog box.

Also may be the network card or formatter. my thoughts are that you should make sure you are using the pcl5 or 5e driver as opposed to the pcl6 or ps drivers. that is the most reliable driver code but lacks some of the bells and whistles of the pcl6. these may be things to test or check to help nail down your problem. also check to make sure the printer routing is correct in indesign. This is a solution which has been suggested on another site, this has not been tested by myself so no promises.
1. Turn the printer off. 2. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in slot J1.) 3. Remove all EIO devices from the printer. 4. Turn the printer on. 5. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device. 6. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error. 7. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer. 8. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM.

We just bought one of these IX7000's. It is the usual giveth/taketh away situation. Ours prints beautifully from the paper cassette and pretty badly from any other feed (mostly the rear) you really have to wrestle with the driver if you print from the rear feed. If yours is printing badly from the cassette feed, I would say you have a problem with the clear ink. You may want to make sure it is inserted correctly and then clean the nozzles. I have found only one setting in which it will print nicely from the rear (envelope) feed. The cassette only accepts a limited number of paper sizes. I was disappointed by this. If it prints poorly from the cassette, it is either your driver settings or an issue with the clear ink feed. Maybe.
The problem is usually caused by printing a PDF file with fonts/page size/ page formating errors which will cause the printer to display the 49.3048 error. The only way to use the printer is to POR or recycle the power and delete the print job from the server or spooling device and cancel it on the printer before the offending command is issued to the printer again. You can try updating the firmware to the latest version 46.140.5 from the HP website. MIke L.

There could be 2 reason for this, first Imaging Unit or Laser Unit, the easiest way to try changing the Yellow Imaging unit, If the problem is not solved, Swap the laser unit yellow one with another laser unit,check if the problem is shifted to the color to which laser is changed

The problem appears on your print out is a symptoms of software corruption. Try to re install new software driver for printer. but dont forger to uninstall the old one before installing a new. check also the printer port connection.
