When I plug the PVR into the TV, I get a colour picture, but if I move the Scart plug to the second - video - output I get a B/W picture/ If I plug a DVD recorder into the video output socket. it will only record in B/W. HELP!!!!

  • gerald874 Jun 20, 2008

I have used two different cables after visual and continuity checks and changing over end to end with both cables, and get exactly the same result ie. colour from the TV output of the PVR and B/W from the video output socket. What now?

  • gerald874 Jun 20, 2008

The last check was only between the PVR and the TV, and I checked that the PVR was correctly set on Pal.

  • gerald874 Jun 20, 2008

My TV is an older CRT type and only has PAL and I have double-checked that the PVR is set on PAL. The only answer seems to be that the video output of the PVR is at fault.

Well the tv may have the problem on the video output, or the device you connect was not comptible with the tv system that you have..

The best solution i can give you is try interchanging your DTV-3100HDD in another TV with same wires what you are using with this TV.if not possible check with another DTV-3100HDD in your TV with same wires. if both the options are not possible for you to do get your DTV-3100HDD to any TV reparing shop and just tell them to check your unit on their telivision.but tell them to check with your same wires which you are at present using. once you get the option where the problem is you yourself can follow the further steps to be taken.

This sounds like a common problem with these players that Marantz usually can't solve themselves. I would contact Marantz directly and see what they can do for you. http://www.marantz.com/
Thanks,

Most likely an issue the SCART connector or the circuitry..unfortunately, it is difficult to diagnose like this..best get it by a TV repairman, who will be able to diagnose it for you..

It may be that you have to go to the menus for each input and select the correct system for the signal you are feeding in. pal ntsc, and so on.

How do I connect to tv there is nothing on the screen from the DVDs player

It depends on your connections for one thing. I did find this piece of information on the DVD player:
"One thing they do not state (in the manual) is that if you are playing it through your Scart socket to your TV. Your TV's Scart socket must be PAL60 compliant".

If they both have HDMI sockets I would get a HDMI cable and connect via that. You will also get a better picture than a scart.

If you are using a scart the connector can also become faulty either inside or a faulty pin so check that too.

How do I connect a dvd player to tv with no scart connection

Make and model of TV would help.
Very odd TV with no SCART and only a single HDMI. You sure it's not a computer monitor? happy.gif
If the TV really does not have any sort of analogue input you will either need to buy a disk player with HDMI or an analogue to digital converter (the former may well be cheaper!), And if there is only a single HDMI you can but switches to expand the number of HDMI inputs if necessary.
User manual here
http://documents.knowhow.com/TV-Home...nal_120524.pdf

Refer to page 15 which states:
"Use a included SCART adapter cable to connect
between the TV's SCART input socket and a SCART
cable to an external AV device's SCART output socket."

I bought a freeview box, My tv has only one scart socket. how do i connect my dvd player to combine with this?

You need a video switch box, that has two video and audio inputs and a video and audio output that connects to the video and audio connections on the scart cable.
Then you can switch between the DVD player or the freeview box.
These devices are available on the Internet, use Google to search for these devices.

Can't connect to the TV. How do I do this?

In the UK (and some other countries) you will need a SCART to SCART cable. Simply plug it into appropriate sockets on rear of TV & DVD player.
Elsewhere you will need a 3 plug RCA (phono) cable. Plug into colour coded sockets on both sets.
Use TV remote 'mode' button to switch from TV antenna signal source to RGB or other source as appropriate

When I switch on my dvd even the set up page is in black and white. Originally I was getting no picture so I made sure everything was plugged in. Then I got the black and white.

Check the scart cable , try connecting it to another scart socket on the tv. I would even change the scart lead to make sure its ok. I have had loads of similar problems like that caused by scart leads faulty or connected to the wrong socket.

Cannot hear sound

You should check your SCART cable and the SCART sockets on both the TV and the DVD players. Make sure none of the pins on the SCART cable connectors are bent, loose - or missing. I suggest you also try another SCART cable and ensure you haven't accidentally muted the DVD player from the remote.

The picture is blue when I play a dvd. I recently connected it to a new Vizio TV. The other tv it was connected to gave us a good picture.

Check your connections for faults, also some connections on TV's are for RGB inputs, so you might have to try another connector or if you can switch the DVD's output to RGB etc.

Can't record from TV to VCR

Most TV's send a signal out using Scart 2(AV2 on remote). So connect a scart to AV2 and to the AVin on the recorder, set the timer or manually record using the AVin as the channel. Unfortunatly you cannot use video plus as this would set to record from a normal channel. As I am not familier with the make of your tv, it's not a guaranteed solution, but I am 80% sure there is a way of sending the DTV signal out through one of the scart sockets.
