Hi
If your lens is stuck and you have the “E:18” error or it says "Please turn camera off and then on again" or "Lens error, restart camera" then your lens needs to be repaired, maybe replaced. It’s difficult to say if the lens is fixable without taking it apart: it could be could be a broken gear or could be lens barrel damage… etc.
We have been repairing digital cameras for several years and have great success with Canon SD series lens repair. You have to tear it down to see what’s wrong, then go from there. Most so-called “camera shops” don’t know how to repair your camera, they send it to Canon service and pay them $150 to replace the lens completely, then charge you $180 for their “work” they did on your camera.
We have a repair package for Canon SD series cameras in our store, just search for “E:18” in our store and you will see it. Most Canon SD series we will repair the lens and ship the camera back to you for only $55-65!
Even if you don’t use our services, please don’t pay somebody $150+ to fix your lens, there’s no need to,they are charging you way too much for something you don’t need.
You can find us at www.darntoothysam.com and we would be happy to help even if you just want to ask questions we try and answer all emails as quickly as we can.
