Question about Insignia Sport MP3 Player

2 Answers

All it does is Beep!

I have the insignia sport 4gb with BT technology. and I have been using Best Buys Rhapsody for a couple months now. the other day I went into rhapsody to change my play lists etc and the player would not show up!

After 2 days of running through all the tech support options and hours of frustration install--- uninstall ---reinstall, connect---disconect----reconnect.
I finally get the player to show up in rhapsody but it says it's not an authorized device! another 2 days spent trying to figure out HOW to get it to authorize (as of this writing it still won't) So, Last nioght in an effort to put some music on the player to listen to as I was going to sleep I used windows media player (11) and just did the drag and drop thing, I watched the files transfer I watched the play change from OK to disconnect to syncing donot disconnect and back to ok to disconnect. So I disconnected and went to my room. I plugged in my bedroom speakers, turned it on got settled in and hit the play but it would not come out of pause. I hit the menu button and doubled checked that the songs were there and they were so went back to now playing and the player "locked up" I couldn't play I couldn't go to the main menu, NADDA so I tried to shut down....it didn't seem like it was going to but then it did. I turned it on again and the profile thing showed then it went to the song and was paused. I hit play, nothing, I hit menu and this time cycled through the options, nothing worked but the radio. while in radio mode I shut it down, it appear to actually close out this time, I waited a bit and turned it back on it flashed the insignia screen updated profiles then went into the song I had started to play it was still on pause, I hit play, it beeped, I hit menu, it beeped, I tried to shut it down, it beeped. I know the battery was fully charged as I had blue bars all the way the whole time. I set it on might night table, thinking I would figure it out this morning.
which I have tried to do, I connected it to my computer, it appeared to sync. but when I went into rhapsody it still would not authorize. so again went into windows media player, it shows it there, can drag and drop music. according to my computer it has less than a gig of music on a 4 gig unit. When the unit said it was ok to disconnect I did and pluged it into my speakers in the den it flashed on it updated profiles but when I tried to play anything or go to the main menu all it does is BEEP, not a constant beep beep beep just when I push buttons menu or play. Ok I just re tested it and Now when I push the play/pause button it is beeping continuously. it is stuck in the main menu screen on the now playing "tab" and now it won't shut down. I have to unplug the speakers to stop the incessiant beeping. Im at my wits end here. It is only a couple months old but after the first week all the orignal packaging was trashed, so I don't even know if I could return it to best buy or insignia or send it back to china in pieces!
could someone maybe help me out, give me some direction as to what to do with this 100 dollar beep-ing machine?

Thanks in advance
Gabi

Ok here is an added bit of news, just now, I managed to get the player to turn on and cycle through the menus I reset the player and erased the internal hard drive(using the player) I then turned it off and back on. I can cycle through the menus of course there is nothing there, the radio works :)

So just to "test" I decided to transfer just 1 song, using windows media player, and see if I could get it to play.

Windows media player can't find the insignia! I even checked device manager and although MPT device is listed the Insignia sport is NOT. I even tried switching usb ports thinking it might recognize it but that didn't do anything.

Im bummed Im agry and Im frustrated becuase I cannot figure this out

    PLEASE HELP!

The same think happened to me whats wrong with it is after your free trial version or your rapsody memebership expires, if there are some songs you didnt buy and just draged to your player on rapsody are deleted by rapsody, thats after 30 days but a few days a while b4 it expires it will start beeping before you play the songs you didnt pay for.

hope this helps

How do i download music from my laptop to the insignia ns-dv2g

Rhapsody Online does not burn or rip CDs, transfer to devices, or play music offline. To obtain these features, you will need the full-version Rhapsody. You need the full version to rip music from a cd and take it to your insignia ns-dv2g
That's what stinks with this Best Buy brand. You could try to do it with WMP.

Let me know if this helps

Not playing songs/ transferring to MP3 player on Rhapsody.

You probably have to redownload the songs again. Forget about the pictures, this player is pretty buggy, it's not worth it.

Insignia NS-8V24 Rhapsody problem

burn the music you PAID for to a cd then rip it back to the system and use Windows Media Player 11 to sync the files to the device (only works if you have a burn feature in rhapsody)

Windows Media Player will see it all the time and is more compatible then Rhapsody with the device

Replacement Battery

Hello kstnf,

The battery for the Insignia Pilot MP3 player appears to be available from Best Buy Parts Search for $41 plus shipping. Go the Best Buy Parts search website and search from the Model number of your MP3 player (which I believe is NS-4V24). Or you can call 1-888-BestBuy to order.

Best Regards,

NEED HELP!!! Rhapsody Software Download Problem

Okay...MacAffee is causing problems with your connection and with the download/update. You will need to right click on the MacAffee icon in the system tray (bottom right of the screen) and open the program to turn it off (or just quit the program). Also make sure your firewall is down when doing this.

Re-install BBDMS (aka Rhapsody), and allow the update to happen. Once this is complete (assuming that MacAffee is the only anti-virus software running) launch the program, connect your MP3 player, and "authorize" the player on your computer.

This should take care of the problem.

I would also recomend a different anti-virus and firewall program. AVG isn't as invasive, and PCTools firewall will allow you to configure what programs are allowed to use the internet.

Music transfer

Here is what is going on. All iTunes songs are in AAC format. The Insignia Pilot cannot read thos files, and the Rhapsody music service cannot read them either. You will need to redownload all of the songs that you want in Rhapsody itself. If you do not want to pay the monthly fees, then I would not download any songs from Rhapsody - they will cease to work after your Rhapsody subscription expires.

You have a couple of options. You could buy an AAC to Mp3 Converter software - this is not free, as far as I know - you also want to be careful, because some sites that advertise these products are scam artists - they don't let you try the product before buying.

Another option is to get Limewire or Morpheus - the free versions of thse services run extremely slow and give you a lot of ads, but they allow you to download Mp3 format songs for free without monthly fees.

Mp3 players just aren't as easy as they used to be.

This site has the Rhapsody software, as well as a link to the drivers for older versions of windows or mac. As well as the user manual and other things you might need. I hope this is some help to you.
