Tv turns on then goes off by itself

I am having the same problem someone else is having with they TV about when I power it on, I hear static, then it turns back off itself, I wonder why its doing that, well now that I done let it sat up, I am not getting more power to the TV, i let a tv technician checked the fuse to it, they said it still works fine, the fuse itself, well the TV do not come on anymore upon pressing the power button, so now what could the problem be. I hope it do not need a picture tube.

oh uh huh so thats what the problem could be, well I'll try to do that one day. uh do you have one of them TV's by the way I shall ask. I am glad I havent discard that big TV, cause I thought I might could get it to working after someone gave it to me. If I get it to working before this new digital television stuff starts next year, I am gonna be so excited to have a big TV in my room until I am not gonna know what to do. yeah it sure aint getting no power at all when I plug it into the wall outlet. at first it used to, but not anymore, nope. so thanks so much for ya reply. so its the power supply section, okie dokie. thanks a million. so u think that the picture tubes in it could still be some good, it doesnt seem like anything is wrong with them. so it might needs some new soldering to the power supply. can you tell me how to do it, I do not have a soldering iron or gun whatever ya call it, I sure dont. so give me some good ideas, tips, suggestions on how to do it, ok. thank ya so much.

Try resoldering the flyback connections and look the board over real good for cold or cracked solder. Cold solder appears dull instead of shiny and cracks are often nothing more than a very small ring around the pin connection

No audio...only static

This is caused by a corrupted signal being sent out by one of the stations you are watching. There is definitely NO PERMANENT SOLUTION to this problem. Just keep unplugging the TV.

Not coming on

Hello Lizzy48. I'm sorry to inform you but from your info you may have a flyback problem. This could be a power supply failure as well but as I mentioned from previous experience your High Voltage Flyback Power supply has a problem. If you have experience in electronic repair you may aquire someone to guide you in the repair to componet level or option #2 call a local TV repair shop for estamates. Good luck.

TV turns itself off after a few seconds, no picture at all

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

No picture or auido.

Place your ear near the back of the tv and have someone turn the unit on. If the following occur :

a.) If you hear a high pitched whining sound and the fan trying to start but the unit fails to start and goes all quiet it could be a bulb issue. (see owners manual for trouble shooting code of blinking power light in front of tv)

b.) you hear nothing. It may be that the power supply for the unit has failed or its fail safe fuse has tripped. ( call tech this one needs a pro to sort out )

c.) seems like its trying to restart itself but does not quite make it. ( its a bulb issue check owners manual )

Tv wont power up makes a noise but no picture

Your power transformer is likely shot. It'll cost at least $200 to have it replaced. Someone can come to your house to diagnose it. Usually costs around $65.
