Hi if your player is in recovery mode and want take the firmware or is acting up. You will need to run the HD threw some repair software outside the player and if that does not work the HD will need to be replaced.

How to Troubleshoot With a Zen Stone MP3 Player

Creative Zen Stone MP3 players work without problems under most conditions, but may occasionally malfunction during normal operation. Malfunctions are often caused by errors in the player software but are occasionally caused by other issues. If your Creative Zen Stone MP3 player is not playing back music or responding to button presses, troubleshoot your device. Most problems are common and do not require service.

Instructions


Plug the small end of the USB cable into the USB jack on the Zen Stone MP3 player. If the rechargeable battery is drained, the MP3 player will not work. Wait until the indicator light stops blinking before removing it from your computer.


Connect the MP3 player to your computer and open the Creative Media Lite software on your computer. Check for updates to the player's firmware by pressing the "Check for Updates" button in the software. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the firmware if one is available. Firmware updates correct problems with the software and may resolve the problem with your device.

Reset the Zen Stone MP3 player to clear any errors that may have developed in the device's software. To reset the device, stick the end of a straightened paper clip into the hole marked "Reset." The device will restart.


Reformat the player as a last resort for fixing your Zen Stone MP3 player. To reformat the player, connect it to your computer and open "My Computer." Your player is located in the "Devices with Removable Storage" section. Right click on your MP3 player, select "Format," and confirm the selection.


Tips & Warnings

If you are still unable to operate your Creative Zen Stone MP3 player, visit the Creative support website.

Reformatting your Zen Stone MP3 player will delete all of the information on your device. Only reformat your player as a last resort.

My computer won't recognise the mp3

It probably doesn't have anything to do with the harddrive itself.. Try re-installing the drivers/software for the mp3 player and see if that works.

Not recognising my creative zen mp3 player...

i had the same problem but solved it, it seems that the usb driver does not always install with the software installation. so you must install using the DEVICE MANAGER make sure first your mp3 player is connected, so ( copy & paste) your software to desktop, then go to CONTROL PANEL, then SYSTEM, then HARDWARE then DEVICE MANAGER, in device manager you should see ( zen v plus ) with a yellow question mark above it, which means the drivers are missing, click onto that and follow instructions to install the drivers which you will find in the software you have pasted to desktop. good luck, tony spain
