If it is the main fuse that is being smoked, there are a number of possibilities:
1) Since this is a CRT based set, the most common failure os of the horizontal output transistor. This goes shorted which causes too much current draw on the power supply and it pops hte fuse.
2) The switch mode power supply transistor has shorted.
3) Failure of the primary side capacitor.
Without seeing the set and taking some internal measurements, I can not state for sure the exact problem with your set. Since there are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside even when unplugged, I would suggest that you get a detailed repair estimate from a local service shop and post the results here. We may be able to walk you through the actual repair.
try to set the convergance if you cant you can adjust the color tubes from inside the tv but have to be very careful to do this. There is actually only 3 colors in the tv red, blue green so I would say your blue and green need lined up
this is a late suggestion, but if you still have the set & the proplem
then i suggest you check with the lamp---situated on the right hand
side ,two screws to undo--once in further two screws--pull back the
casing clean with a dry cotton cloth & with that clean the cooling
fan just adjasent to the case.+ remember to leave the tv on standby mode for 3 minutes before you completely switch it off ,as this helps to cool down the lamp the fan at rear still propels while the tv is in standby mode.--------ASH
I had a similar issue with my Samsung. It would just turn itself off. I found someone else out who overcame it, forget the site. My fix was as simple as taking off the access panel to the lamp in the back and putting it back in making sure teh bottom went in first. It seems tehre is a switch that detetcs the door open and turns the TV off. The switch apears to "move up" with heat? Anyways, my TV would turn off every few minutes for severla weeks and now it has not done it in 2 days.
so you got the audio working correct? Sounds like it may be going into a protection mode of some sort now. I would try leaving it unplugged overnight and try again the next day and see if it starts working
Check if your rca'c havent got short. Otherwise you must open youtr tv , check where your convergenge ic's is , there is 3 plugs near the convergenge heatsink. Plug it out. if it stays on you must change your convergenge ic;s
