I am trying to replace my ice maker. The instructions say that I cannot use the new stripper, that I must replace it with the one on the old ice maker. I cannot seem to get it to fit. It is about 2 inches too long and does not fit into the slot. The model number for the refrigerator is csx22dme. The model number on the new ice maker is JS2

Re: replacement ice maker
Sounds like you may have gotten a wrong kit, or a mislabled kit. Take it back and ask the salesperson to correct the error. Ask them for some advice if they try to say it is the right one. They made a profit on the sale so they need to make it right with you.
If you get nowhere, which is likely to happen, post me back and I can help you come down legal on them.

If the timer piece you are referring to is behind the square white cover, and it's moving slightly back and forth, you should visually check the ice making area it's self to see if the ejector fingers are jammed with ice, or against the ice stripper. Ice Maker jams can be caused by reduced water pressure to the unit mainly from the water filter, your water filter in the toe kick should be replaced at an interval of 6 months to a year, regardless of filter status light. When water pressure is low, not enough water fills the unit and the undersized cubes can become lodged or stuck in the ice maker while being ejected, equally so if there is an over fill situation caused by other failures the ice maker can't eject at all. Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..
when ice maker goes into harvest the unit stall on the ice /the heater comes on and when tray is warm the ice moves out on the stripper . . i would think the tray is loosing its coating and the ice does't release and the heater stayes on too long . may have to replace the mold or ice maker .. ****
best bet os to order and replace the entire assy, the gear broke due to an over torquing problem that they fix with a kit that ioncludes a new module and a new stripper bar, the labor involved and chance of breakin more parts make the entire assy a more feasable way to go, you can proble find a repacemnt online for undder $75
First Look at icemaker and see if fingers are sticking down in to mold with no water. Fingers should be slighlty above stripper plate (plastic piece mounted on ice maker that is closest to you)Also the fingers should rotate at all by hand. If its sticking down in the mold and the fingers move....it bad.
Then make sure the black rubber spout doesnt have ice inside (just squeeze it ......its rubber so you can feel if its iced up)
Yes, Whirlpool did have some issues with the Gears on the Motor module breaking also they have ice maker thermostat issues. I recommend a entire new updated In door Ice maker and you shouldnt have to worry about it again.
Your motor module is bad on the ice maker. It is located on the left side when mounted in the refrigerator. It is under the White Cover over the end. It is brown in color. To verify the correct problem, the ice stripper arm in the ice maker that turns and pushes the ice out of the mold, should be pointing up towards you when it is in the mounted in the refrigerator. I call it the 2 O'clock position. If the ice stripper arm is pointing another direction, it is broken. I sell the module on Ebay as username, themackshack. My parts are genuine factory parts. Good luck!, Mack
