I have a Dell computer and a message window keeps popping up that says "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". It wants an alternate path that will create a folder...

try running msconfig from Run applet in start menu and see what application starts up that you do not need, also try with process manager to see if any services ar started without your consent from you user... it could be a virus or just a driver trying to connect to internet for updates..

I need to find an installation package containing EZARC.msi

Link up to www.nodevice.com and look for driver (xxx.msi) and download it. This might solve the problem of your machine.
Second, boot your CD (OS) that is provided by the company when you purchased the machine. Open the CD and look for the driver you're looking for. Repair it.

Thanks.

HP Digital Media Archive Pop UP

Reinstall Sonic MyDVD from the Application Recovery. A lot of HP computers have done this or produced that constant pop up.

If that doesn't work, go to:

Start > Run and type in msconfig in the box.
Then click the Startup tab and uncheck the box beside DMA (digital media archive)
Click Apply then Close. Reboot when prompted and you shouldn't get that annoying pop up any longer.

If you don't even use the Sonic MyDvD program on the computer, just uninstall Sonic completely from Add/Remove.

HP Digital Media Archive Pop UP

Hello,

Sounds like you have may have it run on startup. Just to see you can use msconfig to temporarily disable it by following these steps:

Hello,

That usually means that a program that starts when Windows starts isnt functioning correctly, You can test it by clixking Start > Run > type Msconfig and press enter. After that click the startup tab. Here you will see programs that load when Windows starts.

If you recognize the program thats causing the issue, simply click the box to the left of the item to uncheck it and click OK. You will then be prompted to restart.

As the machine restarts, check to see if the issue has disappeared.

If so, great. Be aware that you that you will be prompted with a "System Configuration Utility" dialog that lets you know you are using Msconfig. If you don't want to be warned of this, click the box that says "Dont show this message..." and click OK.

If not, run Msconfig again, and uncheck the next suspicious program and repeat the process until the problem disappears.

Below is a link with information on using Msconfig. It also has other links that include information of some of the programs that you might see in the startup window of Msconfig.

http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_xp.html

NOTE:
There's is a "Disable all" button under the startup tab. But I wouldn't suggest using that initially. It is better to uncheck them one at a time so you can see what is causing the issue.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.
Thanks

Please wait while windows configures sonic update manager...the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-rom or other removable disk that is not available....etc. I cannot get rid of this start up message

  • go to start/run then type in "cmd
  • when box opens, type in msconfig
  • go to start up tab and de-select the item that corresponds to that message.
  • close off, and next time you boot it will be gone
good luck
