Toshiba DVR670 Player Logo
Posted on Nov 16, 2010

Just purchased Toshiba DVR670 and hooked it up. Cannot get a setup menu to appear on the TV screen. All cords/connections appear to be working as the picture has improved and it runs beautifully through the stereo. Have read manual and cannot find a place that addresses this. This is so basic and I've NEVER had problem with this before. Joyce Lamoine, Maine

I'm thinking of buying this VCR/DVR combo - Toshiba DVR670 -- but first I want to know if you can program the VCR recording timer using time span information -- not just those codes for programs you find...

Usually, depending on the source, or channel, timer recording can be performed on a VCR; even this model.

The short answer is YES - you can record cable times or set manual scheduled recordings on this VCR. It depends on the channel(s) available in your area, and/or the source (such as cable receivers/set top boxes, etc.) which are intended to be recorded.

Hookup wrong? I can't get the menu to come up for the VR375

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

Using the buttons on the TV itself (not the remote control), press the “MENU” button to see if the TV’s MENU appears on
the screen. If the MENU does appear on the screen, verify that all of your video connections are secure on the TV and on
the connected device. Double check that you are connected in the appropriate jacks, check the other inputs of the TV to
see if the video appears on any other input. If you still do not see any video but can access the menu, try to reset the TV
to the factory defaults.
1. To reset all settings to default values:
i. Press the “MENU” button on your remote to open the menu.
ii. From the SETUP menu, highlight INSTALLATION and press “ENTER”. A new set of Installation
menu icons will appear.
iii. Open the SYSTEM STATUS menu, highlight SYSTEM INFORMATION and press “ENTER”.
iv. Press the LEFT or RIGHT arrow to scroll through the menu bar to select FACTORY DEFAULTS.
v. Enter your PIN code (or 0000 if no PIN code has been set).
vi. Highlight YES and press “ENTER”. The TV will turn off automatically after a few seconds. After the
TV turns off, unplug the TV power cord and then plug it in again to complete the reset process.
vii. If the MENU does not appear on the screen, try resetting the TV by unplugging the power cord for at
least 3 minutes.
viii. If neither of the above steps resolved your problem, you can get assistance with this problem by
contacting our customer solutions department at 1-800-361-3811 Monday through Friday 8am -7pm
CST I hope this helps you with your problem.

Check the setup menu on your TV. Many models require that you choose between using the internal speakers and using the speaker outputs. Sometimes the TV menu choices are "FIXED" (audio output) or "VARIABLE" (internal speakers).

Hooking up dvd player

Your cables are coded red(right audio), white(left audio) and yellow(video). The cable inputs on the dvd player and tv are likewise coded. Just connect color to like color. In setup, do not
change NTSC! If you should go to PAL you'll never get out of setup and all you'll have is screen roll, as though the vertical hold gave out.
