If this line appears whenever your computer is in operation (from start-up to shut-down), you may be encountering what is occasionally referred to as a "line fault." Unlike dead pixels which can generally be repaired, these types of problems may require you to replace the entire LCD screen. These lines may appear for a variety of reasons, but can often be attributed to standard usage, damaged/loose internal connections or impact damage to the screen itself.
I would first suggest contacting the manufacturer if your laptop is still covered by the original factory warranty. In many cases, manufacturers are able to replace defective LCD screens or provide you with the name, phone number and location of a third-party service center in your area. If you would prefer to not deal directly with Sony or a third-party facility, remember that you can always seek additional assistance through your local Best Buy™ store.
