HI there there try to download the windows 7 camera driver from pentax website. It will start work then. Another way is remove the memory card & put in in a card reader then you can also transfer all photos from card to computer For further help ask me . Thanks.
Could be the tube[backlight] has blown.
Can you see any image on the screen if you angle it around to the light?

If it is a young camera they may offer a refurb on in exchange if you are out of warranty

I had exactly the same problem with my S5I 4 weeks ago. Went out and bought another camera then decided had nothing to lose by doing heart segury on S5I. Found it has a watch battery soldered to board under memmory card holder which was flat. I replaced that with a similar battery and it fixed the problem. Its not an easy job but if you know someone good with there hands it would take about an hour.Hope this helps.
