Open the back gate and you will see a couple of philips head screws. Unscrew them and snap the tail light out gently. There a couple of plastic clips that hold the tail light in place. Be careful not to break them (pull the light straight out not up, down, left, or right) Once the tail light cover is removed, separate it from the backing and reflective insert. To change the bulbs just twist counter clock wise and push in. Snap the new bulbs in and repeat the whole process in reverse.

could be the tail lite housing. or the ground on the frame rail back near that location. remove the assembly till its hanging by its wires and remove the bulb. using a test lite probe the socket with the flasher on see if it blinks. if not go down under the rear of the truck and unplug the connector for both tail lites and do the same probe each connector on the harness that goes forward till your test lite starts to blink if it does there then the tail lite assembly is bad if not then repost and ill lead you further

Replacing the rear turn signal light bulb

yes, I just did the same, Don't try removing the tail lite itself, just lay on the ground reach your hand up there and turn the lite socket to realease and replace bulb. There is a tab holding the tail lite in place even after you take out the screws and it can break, if it does your tail lite maynot go back on correclty. Good look, it's actually very simple and quick

How do I access the rear tail lite assembly so I can change the turn signal bulb

Look inside the trunk -- you may have to move the liner aside -- there are three plastic wing nuts holding in each tail light assembly. Remove the nuts and the entire assembly will come out. The light sockets come out with a quarter turn twist.
