I have had my dryer for only 2 years and I have not heard about the vent pipe or exhaust system needing to be cleaned in two years. How often should the vent pipe or exhause system be cleaned?

AF stands for 'Air Flow'. The machine is warning you that the exhaust vent airflow is insufficient. Check the exhaust hose in the rear of the machine and make sure it it not crushed or kinked. The vent pipe should be the rigid metal type not flexible foil or flexible plastic. If everything in rear looks OK, check the outside vent hood for any blockages. If everything checks out, the exhaust system may need cleaning. Cleaning kits are available at most home improvement centers.

It will not dry it say the lettrs af

The airflow is restricted as indicated by the AF code. Check for clog lint filter and/or restricted vent system as lint build up in these areas cause airflow restriction and hence the AF code. Another possible reason is a faulty exhaust thermistor located on the blower housing. It is likely a thermistor fault if the lint filter including the vent system are all clear from lint built up but the AF code persists.

Disconnect power then remove the rear access panel and locate the thermistor on the blower housing. Disconnecting the thermistor and running the dryer will cause E1 to appear on the display to indicate an open circuit thermistor and E2 if the thermistor wires are connected together. Replace the thermistor if this is the case. Click on the links below for additional troubleshooting information.

My kenmore elite mod. # 110.67062600 keeps flashing af

It is due to low air flow (AF),clean the vent tube out. The easiest thing to do is disconnect the vent and run the dryer, the AF will not be displayed, you can take the back top panel off an on the inside is a sheet with codes and how to take apart your dryer, as you have lint inside the dryer as well and should be cleaned out at least twice a year, varies on usage. Hope this helps Tim

AF error will not go away after cleaning vent and lint filters

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Fixya.com.

AF is an error that will flash if a restricted air flow is sensed by the dryer control. If three consecutive cycles have low airflow the control will flash the AF error.

The AF error code can be cleared by pressing the Drying Temp pad for 5 seconds while in stand-by mode. AF will flash in the display for 1 second then "on" will appear in the display. If you press Drying Temp again and "of" will appear in the display indicating the AF error display has been turned off. Try this procedure and see if the "of" error goes away. If the "of" came up in the display by itself then the keypad may be stuck. However After cleaning the dryer's lint screen, ensure that the exterior exhaust hood connected to the dryer is unblocked, ensure that the vent connecting the dryer to the wall is clear and see that the vent is cleaned professionally.

Please get back to us if you have any further query.

The dryer display for the time is displaying "AF".

"AF" means there is an air flow problem within the venting system. There is either a restriction in the hose, outside vent cover, the front vent, or maybe the lower blower assist isn't rotating.

AF Error Code

If thats not it, then you nay have a faulty sensor.
AF Restricted Airflow Condition
"AF" flashes if a restricted airflow condition exists. Check to make sure the lint screen is clean, the door seal is in place and the vent is not
obstructed.

''AF'' error on Maytag Bravos dryer

"AF" means "Air Flow". Your vents are cloged with lint. I have had to vaccum out my vents several times, both inside and out. It's been a bit of a pain.

Dryer is displaying AF

i got this from the other site.

The code AF indicates that the control senses a restricted air flow. To clear the code, press STOP once and the estimated time remaining countdown will return to the display. The AF code will continue to appear with each cycle until the low airflow condition is resolved.
Try the following troubleshooting to resolve the air flow problem:
  • Clean the lint screen.
  • Check at the outside of the home to make sure that the vent exhaust hood is not blocked.
  • Check the flexible vent connection behind your dryer. Make sure that it is not kinked or clogged.
  • You can disconnect the flexible vent and start a cycle with the dryer venting directly into your laundry room. If the AF code does not appear, this will verify an exhaust vent duct problem. Otherwise you may have a component failure.
  • Have your home dryer venting run cleaned professionally.

hope i was able to fix your problem,

tnx 4 using fixya,
