I'm fixing a machine that wont boot. driver detective is an obvious waste of time to me. i just want THE driver.drv or .zip. this is on a gigabyte motherboard. the drive died as result trojan. cant boot,...

For drivers, go to Gigabyte's Download Center: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/DownloadCenter_List.aspx

If that doesn't work, you can manually download any/all drivers from here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_List.aspx

But, if this computer, which once recognized this drive, no longer 'sees' the drive - especially in the bios, you have a bigger problem.

First I would mount this drive as a second 'slave' drive on another computer. If it's not seen there either, you have a dead HD.

Otherwise I might try reflashing the Bios with the latest update to see if the drive is 'seen' afterwards. If not, it's starting to look like motherboard problems.
