Hi, I just bought a 37" Insignia LCD t.v. from best buy and the picture quality is nothing like when I saw it at the store. It is snowy and you can see little square images along a persons outline....the picture I saw on the EXACT same t.v. I saw at the store (I bought the one I was looking at) is nothing like what I saw at the store....when I was at the store the picture was crystal clear and no fuzziness at all......I bring the EXACT same t.v. home and hook it up and all I did was connect my cable to it and the picture franctly sucks......fuzziness, lines distorted, square images around peoples contours...ect. I can't even watch my new DVD player on it, can't find the channel. The t.v. I bought was missing the remote so they discounted the price and I had to buy a universal remote for it.....anyway.....I am upset....spent a lot of money on this t.v. Can you help me?
Do you have a HIGH DEFINITION satellite / cable SERVICE? Unless you are specifically set up to receive HD - your picture will still be back around 400 lines - and both LCD and Plasma HD units are notorious for looking WORSE when viewing NON-HD PROGRAMMING.
Unless your DVD is capable up converting up to (pseudo) HD, don't expect much there either.
Not sure how the INSIGNIA is set up for inputs, but good old Wal*Mart sells a FANTASTIC UNIVERSAL REMOTE called AVEX that is an absolute JOY to program and work with - and it's only about $20!
Put a DVD in your player and turn it on and let it play. I doubt that you are actually looking for a "CHANNEL" - but instead an *input* that is electronically controlled by your tv.
Go to the "TV" position on your remote and find the "INPUT" button. Pressing it should bring up a menu of different inputs that your tv has. Use your center UP/DOWN button to switch inputs until you see your DVD playing through one of them.

It may be the button on the remote. Turn of the TV and remove the batteries from remote. Then turn on TV from the buttons on the set itself and see if it happens. The Insignia remotes are poor quality. Insignia TV's usually carry a 2 year warranty from Best Buy(Insignia is their store brand) if it is under warranty they will replace it. If not under warranty and it is the remote you could try a universal remote. Thanks for using FixYa
well most lcd and plasma tv's above 36" will look grainy on standard definition because they are made for high definition so if you do not receive a high definition signal to your tv then that would most likely be the problem
Find a local service center in your area that services televisions and ask them how much they charge for checking out your television and telling you what wrong with it. If you find the prices too high keep trying until you find one you can live with. You can get parts for the television on the Best Buy parts website. You just have to put in the model number and the parts finder will show you all the available parts for the model and their prices. The telephone for the Insignia customer service is : 1-877-467-4289. The number for the Best Buys parts is : 1-888-237-8289. Hope this helps you with your problem.
This unit is going into protection mode due to some erratic voltages causing the feedback circuit to activate the protection mode. This could be caused by aging components and overheating. You should take this unit in for service by Best Buy if it is still under warranty. If not you must try to have someone test and repair it for repair it for you. Try calling Insignia Customer service and find a service center in you area to take it to for evaluation. The Insignia customer service Number is 1-877-467-4289 The number for Best Buy parts is 1-888-237-8289.Most likely you or a service center will be doing the repair and the numbers above should come in handy. Best Buy also has a parts website, all you have to do is put in the brand name of the television and the model number and its parts finder will list all available parts and their prices. You Can also try MCM parts, they have a website that works the same way for parts and prices. Their telephone number for customer service is : 1-877-626-3532. Hope This helps you with your problem.
I would take it back. I know from purchasing an Insignia LCD from them a while back, the TV just died after about 4 or 5 months. They ended up offering me another TV or with store credit. I took the store credit and chose another TV. I also did not have a warranty. I was told since it was Insignia (which is a Best Buy house brand) that replacing it was not a problem. Good luck.
