First : check your cables if its plugged in securely on each each
Second: Try to change their ends
Third : Try to replace your Ethernet cable.

If your router is connected to a modem try to isolate the problem by connecting your router directly to your computer and check f light would turn on. IF YES then thers something wrong with your modem, check it out.

Hope those simple steps ive provided helped you in way, If not pls let me know and lets keep the ball rolling.

Tried replacing your cables? ... if yes and still no lights ON then might as well check for possible defective device such as your modem.

If your linksys router is hadwired to your PC, then check your pc for possible NIC issue. Might be disabled or corrupted.

Try this > run > type in ncpa.cpl > check if LAN has an X on it, if YEs then RIght clik and choose enable.

Also you can try to go to your device manager :

    Start > control panel > Systems > hardware > device manager :

Check if theres anything under Network Adapter that has a red X on it. If yes just right click it and choose enable.

That excessive hot temperature of your router is not a good sign, it means that something is wrong with it and the problem is hardware base and in just a few more days or weeks the router will eventually stop working even when using ethernet cable.

The best thing to do here if the router is still new and under warranty is to have it replace from store or from where you purchased it.

Compatibility with high speed ADSL2 Broadband

Yes, Linksys WRT160N is 100% compatible with ADSL2. Linksys WRT160N is a Broadband router.

you will not be able to use the linksys WRT160N, as an ADSL2 modem router. you should be using an ADSL2 Modem separately and connect the cable from the modem to the Linksys WRT160N. Hope this clarify the doubt.

Wireless router needing ethernet connection?

Hi ABVT66 - Didn't your router come with two short cables? It should have. One is the cable that hooks up the modem to your router and the other is the cat5 (ethernet) cable that connects your router to your pc. Let me know if you have these cables. Also, if you check your device manager on your pc, click on the + next to network adapters and it will tell you your network adapter. DON'T RATE THIS 'TIL WE'RE DONE. Thanks.
