1 Long, then 2 Short Beeps: Video error
Explanation: The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.

Does your laptop still have a warranty? if it does, get it beck to the vendor.

Thanks

That means there is s problem with the RAM on the motherboard (Problem lies with the Memory Chip). This could be a result of a Memory chip that has not been inserted properly or it has moved away from its contacts on the motherboard. This will be fixed by opening up the RAM compartment and remove the memory chips and replace them back carefully. Try to switch on your laptop again. Make sure that when you are doing all this, the computer is off and the charger is not connected to it. This I hope will solve your problem.

Hp pavilion a1330n fan runs, nothing else happens

A lot of HP Pavilion laptops suffered from improperly installed VGA chips on the motherboard which did not have properly thermal control. Overtime the chip will partially or entirely lose contact from the motherboard and you will experience this symptom.

This started with early 2007ish Pavilion DV2000, 6000, and 9000 series laptops, but has been an ongoing issue in several models since. A repair is possible, but NOT by baking your motherboard or using a thermal heatgun.

You need to take it to a lab with an infrared REFLOW machine to properly REFLOW the solder from the VGA chip to the motherboard. Going rates are from $75 to $150 flat for the job.

Good luck

Any help for beeping acer laptop when opening..thanks

g'day!

i would like to know how many and the kinds of beeps? there are what they call beep codes which indicates what kind of problem the your laptop is experiencing: here are the common ones:

0 beep = no power, loose card, short
1 short beep = normal,POST (Power On Self Test), your computer is ok
2 short beeps = POST error, review screen for error code.
continuous beeps = no power, loose card, short
repeating short beeps = no power, loose card, short
1 long, 1 short beeps = motherboard issue
1 long, 2 short beeps = video issue
1 long, 3 short beeps = video display circuitry
three long beeps = keyboard/keyboard card error
one beep, blank, incorrect display = video display circuitry

aside from the 1 short beeps, you need to take your laptop to a technician to have it looked at.

cheers mate!

PC will not boot up. Almost did once but screen went black. Reboot doesn't help. No green light on monitor and PC makes a long slow beep over and over. I have recovery discs but when put it nothing...

Based on your description of your problem, my educated guess is that you have a problem with the system board or motherboard. Checking Compaq support site, it says that beeps are generally heard when a hardware device is not connected properly or has failed.

First thing to try is disconnect the keybaord and mouse and try to start the computer again. What we are trying to do is find out which hardware device might be involved. So start with the keyboard an mouse. If the computer still does not start, remove any periferal drives, like floppy or cd drives.

There are several beep codes, below are a few examples listed:

Beep codes common to HP and Compaq Desktop PCs The following beep codes are common to many HP and Compaq desktop computers. Use these codes first before referring to the other code lists. NOTE: Not all codes are shown. Beeps Description 1 short beep and 1 long beep Memory problem 2 short beeps and 1 long beep (repeats 5 times) Unable to initialize video or video card required but not installed 3 short beeps and 1 long beep CPU configuration error or CPU type is not compatible The following beep codes are common to many HP and Compaq desktop computers that can occur while restoring, flashing or updating the BIOS : Beeps Description 1 short beep Legacy floppy drive or CD/DVD drive not detected 2 short beeps Floppy diskette or compact disc not detected 3 short beeps Unable to start flashing (such as when missing a utility or BIOS image) 4 short beeps Flashing failed (checksum error, corrupted image, etc.) 5 short beeps BIOS recovery successful Try working on this solution and see if you can get the computer to start. Below is a link to a troubleshooting page from Compaq for your computer. This can be a good reference as well.

I got my HP Pavilion dv2000 in the end of 2006 and after a bit over a year the screen turns black and with 3 beep sounds when on the turn ons'. Since then, I have used it till now I saw some articles that...

Unfortunately beep codes change from manufacture to manufacture and even from model to model with some companies. 3 beeps on start-up is typically related to a memory failure but based on the way you described the issue it is possible there is an issue with the integrated video. The link below will bring you to HP's official trouble shooting guide. I recommend removing and reseating memory modules. A hard reset is also a good idea.

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

try remove and clean the memory and then fix it back, im sure that would resolve your problems. however if this not solve then your should replace the memory.
