Further to your suggestion, where is the "self-Clener" button? I don't know if I have one.

  • maureen321 Jun 19, 2008

I only have the hob, it is a different make to my cooker.
I don't think there is a self cleaner button

  • maureen321 Jun 19, 2008

It is a ceramic HOB, not stove. The only markings are as above.

Have you tried unplugging then plugging it back into the wall as a reset? If the plug isn't easily accessible you have cut the power at the breaker momentarily.

Is there a button or an icon of a key somewhere on the control panel? If so try pressing it until the unit beeps or press the buttons above it together until it beeps. I've seen where you have to press two buttons simultaneously like a + and - button.

You might have to turn the breaker off for longer than a few seconds to get it to clear the lock. Try a couple of hours if you can.

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "The stove top becomes locked ". Do you mean the oven door is locked in self-clean mode ? Do you have a model number?

ok, unplug the unit orflip the breakers and while the power to the stove is off it should not be locked, these units use a switch to lock the lever which locks the stove.... have a helping hand try to unlock it while the power is off and then when the power is turned back on :) i hope this helps otherwise i would call the manufacturer and see if they know of a reset code that this unit may have?

I KNEED NEW KNOBS FOR MY SCHOTT CERAN BLACK GLASS HOB

The reference to Schott, is the maker of the ceramic glass itself. The label outlining the manufacturer and model number will be located on the base of the cooktop. Once you obtain that, contact the distributor to obtain the required knobs.

Hi, my mother has a Schott Ceran induction hob. It's very good but occasionally randomly locks itself and we cannot find a manual to tell us how to unlock it or locate the model number.

The reference to Schott is the maker of the ceramic glass. The label identifying which brand and model number will be located on the base of the cooktop.

If the cooktop itself randomly locks itself, it would most likely be related to the touch panel and the sensor plate that would require replacement.

The lock would be the child lock, and usually holding down the key symbols for a period of 5 secs should remove the lock.

Whirlpool Oven, Ceran stove top

I want to say that since I posted my original problem with black spots appearing on the Schott Ceran top, I took pictures of the top and attached them to a complaint sent to Maytag. Approximately 3 days later, a Maytag representative phoned and offered a brand new top-basically stating that there is a fault with the tops. They would not pay for the labor to replace the top. My husband downloaded the instructions from Maytag website and installed it himself. These spots actually appear from within the surface and are not the result of a boil over, etc. The spots on my burner grew to the width of the burner. If you search the internet, you will see many others with the same problem with the Schott Ceran tops. I will never buy another!
