Question about Intel Motherboard
i just assembled a pc
intel core 2 duo 2.66 ghz e8300
msi p7n sli platinum
xfx geforce 8800 gt (using one)
2x1 gb transcend 800 mhz
360 gb sata
19" samsung sync master.
500 w power supply
well when i plugged in the power supply and pressed the power button, the fans and all strted to work but ther is no display on the monitor. there was no bios on the screen. no beep of the pc booting. the fans on the cpu and cabinet and graphic card were working. but no display.
i checed the monitor with my laptop, it wrked fine.
also is it mandatory that the smps will have a 8pin power supply..i seem to have only one 24 pin power.
also i have a asus lite scribe fixed in. would the drive work only when O/S is installed..it didn work even when the fans were running..
m using a div-i dual to vga converter for the monitor.
hey another thing. i have a wireless miscrosoft keyb and mouse. can it work even when no OS in installed??? else how do i input commands?
Hi thnks fr the help

You need a Molex power plug (same as for your standard IDE hard drive or DVD drive to an 8pin adapter. A common product. If you can't get it locally.
Without this the board won't boot as there is insuffcient power on the motherboard to drive your display adapter.
Here is the link to the product at crazypc.com.
Also, if you have onboard video too, make sure the bios setup pages have the property set for primary display adapter to Add-in/PCIe.

SOURCE: msi motherboard
@ vinay2412 - YES you need a PSU wil either the 4 or 8 pin molex connector to power the motherboard correctly
the lightscribe drive will not read a DVD or CD until you boot the PC correctly
the wireless k/b will not work until you load the drivers etc. you need a PS2 or USB k/b to get thing going first until the OS is running and you can install drivers
your error suggest you need to load drivers from the motherboard driver CD. do you have this?

The processor is too weak - get at least an i5, best would be a quad core i7; the hard drive will be filled faster than you thing - bigger is always better; get some faster memories - at least 1666 MHz, 4 GB is bare minimum, get a 64bit OS and 8 GB for real performance; the power source is at the limit - for best result get one of 600W; as for the video card the best for photoshop is Nvidia Quadro CX, even ATI Fire will be better than any gaming card.
