I found this info for you. On my recorder, these files are small, and probably do not contain the actual recordings, only data about the recordings. From Sony website: What is the MSGLIST.MSF file? Hi! I have an MSF - icon_arrow_up_spec.gif Applicable Models: PCM-M10, PCM-D50 Article ID : 1187263 (modified 11/16/2009 11:54:00) Question: About MSGLIST.MSF file.
Answer: MSGLIST.MSF is a file that contains information such as the order of folders, playback order of audio files and recording date and time. If user connects the recorder to the computer, the MSGLIST.MSF files are displayed but do not delete or change these files. If these files are modifed, the saved files may be broken or the recorder may not work correctly.
Hope this helps. ChgoDoc

Hi, All Folders are locked and if you try to record its says READ ONLY CARD? I have 1 sound file on the card which i need. It won't play on the computer system either?

The memory has been corrupted. You will need to reformat the memory from the menu in order to use that memory card again. This will erase all files.
If you need to recover the file, download a free recovery program called pc inspector smart recovery, from http://www.snapfiles.com/get/smartrecovery.html

On the internet, navigate to THIS PAGE, then select your operating system, where it says, "Select an operating system to see files:" in the center of the lower portion of the page (list of compatible systems shown below also), by selecting from the pull-down menu; then click on the appropriate link in the 'Download' column on the far right; then click the 'Download Now' icon with the earth and a green arrow pointing down on the far right, saving it to your desktop (or any location you prefer). Once the file downloads, double-click on the executable file you just downloaded, and follow the instructions. I downloaded a .msf file from a Sony audio recorder. Please advice how I could playback this audio .msf file.

Hi!

It seems like you've downloaded the wrong files...
As mentioned at Sony's FAQ:
MSGLIST.MSF is a file that contains information such as the order of folders, playback order of audio files and recording date and time. If user connects the recorder to the computer, the MSGLIST.MSF files are displayed but do not delete or change these files. If these files are operated, the saved files may be broken or the recorder may not work correctly.

The right way to copy your recordings is explained here...

Good luck and Best regards,

Hi There, I have got a DVD RW 8cm disc(recorded some video on SONY 105E DVD Camcorder) which i was not able to playback on my sony vaio laptop. Any solution to fix this problem, please

Your problem is most likely a format or codec problem.(you dont have the right one installed)
Download the free VLC media player here
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Its a free program that plays almost everything, without the need for downloading new codecs all the time.
If by chance this does not solve the problem, take note of the file extension of the file you are trying to play.
Google "extension + .avi" to find out what plays an avi file
google "extension +.mov" to find out that that is a QUICKTIME file.(which very well maybe as its very popular for movie cam formats)

If you dislike using VLC for some reason then you can buy and install the proper program to play the proper file kind *s* but VLC will play 99 % of files.

Thank you and good luck.*s*

Sony IC Recorder ICD B600

To transfer recordings from the Sony ICD-B600 to Windows first buy a Radio Shack #42-2497 cable. Connect the cable from the recorder headphone jack to the computer microphone jack. In Windows XP follow the path: start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder. This small window will allow you to record 60 seconds of sound to a file. Get Article #82215 from the Microsoft web site. It will tell you how to make extended recordings. I was able to record 45 minutes continuously. The recorder is turned on by moving the 'HOLD' switch down. The recorder is turned off by moving the 'HOLD' switch up and waiting 2.5 seconds. Have fun.

Cannot play .HGL files once files have been downloaded to my computer

Unless you have specific software to play the .hgl files (you could do an internet search for "hgl player"+"audio" to try and find a standalone .hgl player if you want to try this route) then you'll need the program Converter 1.4 that comes on the CD shipped with the product. This software is a program that decodes the compressed recording file (the .hgl) and converts it into a .wav file that can be played using most any PC media player; from there, you can listen to it or recode it as an .mp3 or whatever you want to do with it.
Hope that helps.
