Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The cabrio washer leaks from the bottom and is steadily increasing in water flow. The hoses are secure, the drain pipe appears to be in place. Is this more likely a water pump or transmission? The washer also holds a bit of water in the barrel. The washer is 2.5 years old. Thank you.

Have a had a whirlpool cabrio washer for almost 3 years. It started as a small leak when it was draining to huge leak now where all the water is draining out all from the right front side.

Hello, the Cabrio has the drain pump on the right rear. Pull the washer out from the wall about 2.5 feet or so. Place a towel over the top edge of the control panel and lean the washer back against the wall so it rests there. Lay on the floor and, using a flashlight or headlamp, carefully inspect the drain pump for cracks, the rubber pipes for leaks, and check to see if the motor in the middle has water trails that look like water was slung out when spinning. These models are notorious for leakage from the tub seal at the center. Water drains down into the bearings and motor. I've also seen where the body of the drain pump cracks and leaks. Also, check the metal spring clips. They are notorious for being too loose for holding the rubber elbows and pipes on the plastic nipples under the tub--I never use them to repair a washer--I ALWAYS use automobile hose clamps purchased at auto parts stores--way better and DEFINITELY more reliable. You'll need the 1.5" to 2.5" sizes.

Cabrio washer pump (maybe) makes a grinding noise.

The water pump may have an item stuck inside. Open the water pump and remove whatever is stuck inside. I've found jewellery, coins and even sand stuck inside mine...
Stuff you'll need
Adjustable wrench, towels, sticky tape, bucket, screwdriver, pliers, time to repair: 3/4 hr - less if you are very handy.
Instructions
  1. Disconnect the washer from power and turn off water.
  2. Unscrew water inlet pipes from the back with a wrench. Some water may be spilled, so place some old towels on the floor.
  3. Remove the drainpipe from the drain.
  4. Secure the lid of your washer with sticky tape and lower the front of the whole machine onto a towel so the back of the machine is facing up. Ask someone to help you since the washer is heavy.
  5. Unscrew the panel that covers the back of your washer.
  6. Loosen the clamp that secures the pump's inlet hose to the tub and pull the hose away.
  7. Remove the wire protector and detach the pump's wire connector from the body of your washer.
  8. Unscrew the pump's mounting screws and loosen the clamp that secures the drain hose. You can then pull the pump off.
  9. Unscrew the top section of the pump and remove any junk. Rinse it out over a bucket to remove sand and grit.
  10. Screw the pump back together. Then connect the drain hose back to the pump's outlet and secure the clamp.
  11. Reconnect the inlet hose and its clamp, secure the pump with the mounting screws and then reinsert the wire connector and replace the wire cover.
  12. Replace the cover of the washer, lift it back into position. Ask someone to help you since the washer is heavy.
  13. Reconnect the water, drainage pipe and power.
  14. Pick up the towels, pull off the sticky tape and wash the dirty towels.
  15. Pour a (large) glass of wine, sit back and enjoy your handiwork.

Cabrio WTW7600 model, error code LF comes, checked water pressure and it is ok. Help

This LF error code indicates that there is a water supply problem. Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on? Turn on the water. Check the household faucets to see if the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Completely open both faucets for proper fill.

NOTE: Both hot and cold water must be connected to the washer and turned on. The washer will not properly operate with only one incoming source of water.

Are the water inlet hoses kinked? Straighten the water inlet hoses.

Are the water inlet valve screens on the washer clogged? Turn off the water and remove inlet hoses from the inlet valves in the back of the washer. Inside the inlet valves are screens. Remove any accumulated film or particles from the screens. Reinstall hoses, turn on water, and check for leaks. See the Installation Instructions for details.

zjlimited_1506.jpg

Is the water pressure less than 10 psi?
If the water pressure is too low, the washer may not properly operate. To find out your exact pounds-per-square-inch (psi) value, contact your local water utility company.

Is the drain hose extending more than 8" (20.3 cm) into the drainpipe?
The drain hose may be too far inside the drainpipe (standpipe) or laundry tub. Drained water can siphon back into the washer if the drain hose extends too far. Make sure the drain hose does not extend more than 8" (20.3 cm) into the drainpipe or laundry tub. Using the U-shaped drain hose form as described in the Installation Instructions will provide the appropriate length of drain hose in the drainpipe or laundry tub.

Is the drain hose taped onto the drainpipe? Is the top of the drainpipe covered with tape?
Do not seal the drain hose into the drainpipe with tape. The drain hose should be loose, yet secure. There must be a gap between the drain hose and the drainpipe to allow air to flow. The air gap will break the suction. This will keep water from being continuously sucked out of the machine (siphoning) as it fills.

Is the drainpipe (standpipe) less than the minimum height of 39" (99 cm)?
Make sure the top of the drain is at least 39" (99 cm) high (as measured from the floor). If the drain is below 39" (99 cm), the water will start to flow out of the machine due to gravity. The flow of water can create suction, (siphon) and the water will continue to drain out of the washer.

To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel once.

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, and all of the other questions above have been checked, call for service.

Hope this helps (remember to rate this answer).

Machine not working (whirlpool duet fron load) error code f21

This error code indicates that drain times are longer than expected. This could be a problem with one of the washer parts including the drain pump itself, how the drain hose enters the stand pipe, or maybe something is stuck somewhere in the drain system and is preventing the water from flowing properly.

Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose.

Remove the three screws that hold the lower access panel in place. Here you will find the pump and the all important sump clean out, or as we like to call it, the coin catcher.

What to do when there is an error saying Ld?

Hi, This error code(Ld) indicates that drain times are longer than expected.

1.Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose

2.The drainpipe (standpipe) height requirements are: 96" (244 cm) maximum and 39" (99 cm) minimum. Your washer will not be able to adequately pump the water out of the washer if the drainpipe (standpipe) exceeds 96" (244 cm). In this case, the water may flow back into the washer.

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.

Thank You

My washer stopped during the spin cycle. Now I can get it to fill with water But aggitate and spin it just makes a noise and the tumbler is locked up tight

Your shaft coupler / motor coupler has likely broke. Not too hard to fix yourself, but you will have to remove the water from the washer first.

Remove the clothes, place them in the bathtub. Roll a garden hose from the washer to outside where drain water won't matter. Tape the garden hose to the drain hose, and lower the drain hose to the floor. Water will flow through the garden hose outside. Turn the washer over, follow directions supplied with new part, and replace the motor coupling. When finished, reorient the washer, remove the garden hose, place drain hose in the drain stand pipe. Run the washer through a couple of full cycles, then rewash the clothing.

It is leaking from the bottom during the wash cycle. What is going on?

If you mean its leaking anytime you have water in the drum, the first thing to check is the drain hose connection at the back of the washer,You'll want to do this with the washer pulled out,(don't let the drain hose drop below the water level or you'll have a mess)If its not leaking there you should be able to look under the washer & see which connection it is(usually the inlet to the pump) Might be as simple as tightening the hose clamps.Hope this helps

Whirlpool Cabrio washer is leaking water

The problem happens when your installer throws away the drain hose u-bend, and stuffs the hose as far as it will go down the drain pipe. When this happens the end of the hose can get pushed under water, which causes the washer to siphon out the wash water when it fills. This results in an LF "Long Fill" error.
The solution is to get your installer to come back and install the washer properly.

LF means long fill, so if your hoses arnt blocked and you are getting good flow, try looking at your drain pipe, it should only go about 6 inches into the actual drain and zip tie it there. any further it could syphon the water out of your machine.
