Question about AEG Lavamat 88840 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have an AEG 6955 washing maching about 14 years old. Recently the program has stopped on many occasions with code F1 usually on first fill. Other times it works OK. The manual says this is no water. Water is on, pipe not linked, filters not blocked. Sometimes it does it several tiumes in a row and if I turn a nearby cold tap on and off quickly to give a pulse in the pressure whils it is filling, it starts working OK. Is this indicative of a the main water valve failing? and would it be cured by replacing it please?

Yes changeing the valve will fix it . around £30. On one occaision only I have come across the detergent dispensor top being blocked up enough to slow down the fill. on your machine it allows 5mins if this is exceeded F1 is displayed and prog stopped.

    Accurate disgnosis. I have now bought and installed the part and it is working perfectly again. Incidently, when I enquired at a parts supplier, he recommended using an equivalent part of Qualtax (VAL14) it works fine and is about one quarter the price.
    Thanks again.

    using non gen parts fine if works. sometimes the coil resistance values vary and can upset the electronics. Glad you fixed it.

to clear the error code: whilst holding the pre wash and short wash buttons in together turn the control knob from off to gentle spin, this will clear the fault code and run a LED test. (if all goes weel) F9 means carbon brushes need to be replaced

I have a AEG lavamat 6955 sensorlogic front loader I had the motor changed 5 years ago. The washing machine still works but the drum is tight and does not turn. Even when the machine is off. It is...

Could be that the Inner Drum Spindle is broken, this is a 3 arm spider-ish bracket that holds the inner drum. To test this theory, see if you can lift the inner drum up & down from the door side, you will be able to feel if it is broken.

Hope this helps.

When was the last time you changed the brushes on the motor? Check the brushes by removing the motor and then the brushes. The brushes should have at least 15mm left on them. Use compressed air and blow out the motor.

your machine is draining too slowly. When it initiates a drain cycle, the water level switch is sensing the water level is still too high after 60 seconds so the computer1.gif stops and generates this fault code.

Here are the things to check;

* Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or inked.
* Check Wire Harness connectors to the Drain Pump, Pressure Switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
* Check/Clean Drain Pump Filter of foreign objects
* Check for Drain Pump Failure
* Check the Inlet Valve for proper shut off
* Check the Pressure switch for proper operation
