Victoria,
It is not that you can add any amount pf RAM to ant PC/laptop. Each motherboard has the TAM quantity fixed and you cant exceed it. It may be less than that quantity or equal but not more. So must be the case with you.

Packard bell easy note tj65 will not power up

the short cable running from the power button to the main board has probably snapped where it passes over the RH hinge. remove the screen surround to gain access to the power on switch area and check. it would seem to be a common fault with the packard bell

my wife owns one of these computers and it is identicle to my advent 7201 laptop. both have been up-graded to 2 GB with memory purchased from 7dayshop.com (2 x 1GB)ddr2 memory. go to crucial.com and use their memory tool to advise. I do not know if it will take 4 GB? it used to be like wading thru treacle, with 2gb and removing some of the start-up programs it sings, regards HTEETH
