I have a GE gas dryer DBVH512GF1WW. The heat is inconsistent. I noticed the ignitor glowing and then a flame shortly after on the initial time I turned the dryer on. Then after the flame going out after...

sounds like bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve, when the coils start to fail the ignitor will glow, the coils let the gas in until the coils heat up and then ignitor glows but no gas.when the coils cool down they might work again for a short time until they heat up and fail again.if the flame lights and goes out after like 30 seconds and goes out and keeps doing this you have a block either in the dryer or the vent line but it sounds like you have bad gas coils.unplug the dryer, get at the valve, pull off the wires going to the coils and check them with a meter, one should be open, just remove the two phillips screws pull off the cover and slide the coils up off of the posts, unplug them and put the new coils on,you'll see like a little piece of plastic on the top of the coils, this fits intoo the cover so they line up correctly and holds them in place, also on the larger coil there's a spacer on the post,if you don't see it look inside the old coil, poke out the spacer and slide it onto the post and then install the coil.

Our Maytag model dg410 quit ingniting. Is it ignitor or something else?

Power from the control Klixon mounted on the blower housing energizes the gas valve assembly when the temp is below 105f and the dryer is set for heat. If that control is open then no power is applied and no heat. If a restriction causes the dryer to exceed 350 for some reason then the fuse next to the control Klixon melts. No power will get to the gas assembly but the dryer will run. On that gas assembly is an ignitor/flame detect sensor, an ignitor, and a pair of solenoids that open the gas valve. The flame sensor must have continuity. If it is open then no power will get to the ignitor. If the ignitor is broken you will also have nothing. The coils will not open the valve without a change in the resistance of the circuit. One of them coils has 3 wires and the other has 2. The sequence of gas valve operation is the flame sensor bi-metal has to open when the temp exceeds 1800f. this kills the power to the ignitor and flips the 3 wire coil so that the ignitor is now a thermocouple and the coils will yank open the gas valve. As long as that ignitor stays hot then the gas will continue to flow out the valve. If for some off reason the gas were not to ignite the ignitor would coold down and shut off the gas and that is your builtin safety. So what goes wrong? Blown thermal fuse, open control Klixon, open flame detect/sensor, open ignitor, or Intermittent coils,(the coils will get hot and quit with age.

The flame goes out after about 30 seconds. I have

one of the thermal sensors may be bad.
you may also have a faulty ignitor even though it glows it maynot be drawing enough current to keep the regulator open

Mdg 4000aww turns on and heats when started. runs for 5 five minutes then flame goes out. ignitor glows but no flame. one minute later dryer still running ignitor glows, no flame. this repaets until turned...

Either the venting needs cleaned or the coils on the gas valve are bad. Unhook the venting from the back of the unit and run. If works ok then clean venting. If you still have the problem, replace the two coils on top of the gas valve.

My maytag autodry dyer mdg6200aww begins by heating up but the gas flame goes out after a minute or two.I checked for continuity on both the thermal fuse and radiant sensor and both checked out ok.

Continuity on the radiant sensor should be "closed" at startup, but it must also open after it has sensed the heat from the ignitor or flame.

The ignitor could be cracked and opening up after it heats up for awhile, also it's connectors might be loose/oxidized, clean them and reconnect after checking the ignitor.

Last thing to check is continuity on the gas valve coils. These two frequently go bad, especially the one with two contacts rather than three.

The set of two coils is about $10,00 on ebay. buy them and install. Even if you don't need them now, you will eventually need them. They are nearly a consumable item.

My Maytag model # mdg6000bww doesn't heat up?

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the gas valve coils may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.
