Follow these steps to clear paper jam

Clearing paper jams
Paper jams can be real or false. The unit may report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The solution to a real paper jam or a false paper jam is the same.
CAUTION:
Jammed paper must be removed using the rear access door with the power cord disconnected to avoid mechanical damage. Do not remove jammed paper from the front of the unit.

  1. Turn off the HP product and turn it around so the back of the unit faces you.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely.
  3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door toward you.
Figure 2: Removing the rear access door

  1. Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to Buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  2. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.
  3. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
  4. Reinstall the rear access door.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on.
Preventing paper jams
The following information will help prevent paper jams from occurring:
  • Never use paper that is torn or wrinkled.
  • If you are having problems using paper that has already been printed on once (recycling), replace it with new paper.
  • Remove and then reinstall the rear access door. Verify that the access door is fully locked in place. The paper can skew if the rear access door is not locked.
  • Every six months to one year, clean the paper feed rollers with a rag lightly moistened with water. Over time the paper feed rollers accumulate dust and do not function as well as they once did.
  • When printing envelopes, tuck the flap into the envelope and crease the folds before printing.

Printer is displaying "paper Jam" even after the paper jam has been cleared.

Hi there, Lisa here to offer some assistance. What printer do you have? You can use the following link to find your product number if you are unsure:
Finding Your HP Product Model Number

In the meantime, I know you said you have switched the printer off and back on, but let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.

I hope this helps, and look forward to hearing back from you if you require further assistance.

Thanks, I work on behalf of HP.

Turn the printer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Disconnect the "data" cable from the computer.
Reconnect the AC power.
Turn the printer on.
Press the "paper-feed" button, to try to feed a few sheets of paper through the paper.
Reconnect the "data" cable.

If this fails, take the printer to a qualified technician, for professional trouble-shooting.

Canon MP830 will not print Error code 5C10, And 5100 donaldbetty@juno.com

5C10 seems to indicate a paper jam. 5100 indicates either a paper jam or ink tanks not seated properly.

A) Paper jam: There is a rear cover on this model. Many paper jams cannot be seen from the outside. Sometimes even a scrap of paper from a previous jam will disrupt the paper path.

B) Follow your manual for installation of the ink tanks. Remove and replace the ink tanks carefully following the instructions.

C) Should these remedies not fix the problem, you can try resetting the device:

1) Press and hold the <On/Off> button until the display on the machine goes blank. (If this is unsuccessful, unplug the power cord).

2) Wait approx. 10 seconds and power back on. Wait until the printer completes its startup routine before trying another print job.

3) If solution fails, your MP 830 may require repair

Paper jams

Had this problem, too with HP PSC 1610 AIO, paper would pull in part way and stop, then display would indicate: Paper Jam, Clear Jam and Press OK, but there was no paper in the path at all. Found in HP forums that possibly the problem was a broken off piece that may be called the "x-bias" lever which is on a little spring inside the printer just to the left of the carriage bay on the right side of the device. There are two photos of "broken" and "not broken" at this forum site:

Since HP does not sell the little part to repair it, I phoned HP and got a good "trade-in, trade-up" price for a better device. Hope this helps someone else find the answer to the constant paper jam issue, as I always appreciate the FixYa forum help from everyone else here, too.
