I have GE Microwave Model JVM1540WMC. Clock works, light comes on when door opens, but none of the keypads work. Tried unplugging, still nothing.

Thank you for your quick reply. Tried this again (unplugging), message comes on saying press clock button to set, but there is no response to any of the buttons. Tried holding reset for 10 to 15 seconds but still nothing. Does this keypad just pop open or are there screws to remove?

I had a repair guy come in and look at this, he said had to replace key pad which would cost $300, more than the cost of the microwave. Thank you for your idea.

Thank you for your help regarding this. How does that panel come off? Do you have to take off the entire outer shell??

  • ggooder Nov 18, 2010

Thank you, I will try to get this thing off the wall this weekend and will let you know the results.

The touch pad is not available by itself anymore, you have to replace the entire computer memory, which lists at $265. Plus talking to a few other people on line about GE Microwaves, they have all run into the same problem. Therefore we just bought a new Panasonic. Thank you for you help in this matter.

I didn't find the model you have listed but the key pad at retail is 37.00 / and this is done in the home . service would be about 87.50 . now that is not 300 .00 but we all set our own prices . the job is easy and you mght want to do it your self . question did the tech ck the ribon connections to the prosser . if the conections were not good this would render the pad dead. . you mght just unplug the ribbon and reconnect it //this will sometimes correct the poop connection . mm hope this helps ,,mm inside the control panel is the tech sheet and it will give you the part # i found it oa another web sight for 55.00 / mm

Hi

Try unplugging the microwave for 30-40 minutes. If the error doesn't reset then check for any error code. If no error code is being displayed then keep the OFF/Clear button pressed for 5-10 seconds, this will reset the microwave. In case error is still present then you'll need to check the microwave keypad. Look for a tech sheet hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

GE Microwave displaying --F3--

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorting keypad / controls.

There's a chance it can come on by itself and run unattended, which can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open.

On this model, the keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to replace the entire controller assembly.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you disconnect the wires and install the new controller.

You can order part number WB07X10903 here for $114.37 (compare that to $174.75 direct from GE!).

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE XL1800 Micro fan won't shut off after light burned out

The problem appears, at least in part, to the door latch circuitry which cannot be serviced by the owner. If the unit is still in warranty, call GE customer care. If not, replacing the unit is your best bet. I just bought a new GE 1100 watt oven with great features for less than $100 If the door dosen't latch correctly, you could be exposed to dangerous microwave energy.
