Question about Canon CanoScan D660U Flatbed Scanner

Lines throughout Was working fine when scanning now have lines across the whole bed. Have uninstalled and reinstalled but still same problem. Hope you can help. Thanks Regina

Clean the glas with IsoPropyl Alcohol. Remove stapler pins before scanning as it can damage/scratch glass.

Uneven black border showing up on scanned documents


Most scanners scan the whole "bed" not just the document lying on it. Where no part of the document covers the bed usually appears as black.

Normally when scanning you are offered and option whether to scan the whole document or a portion thereof. When previewed, a dotted line appears around the portion the scanner thinks you want, you have to re-arrange that box so that it lies just within the part or the document you require.

Should this not resolve the issue the menu options on
the left hand side of the Xerox web page should guide you to a resolution.

Hi, I have 2 computers one laptop Sony Vaio and a regular desktop both with windows 7 running for a while now. The drivers from HP that i downloaded worked fine on the laptop, but on the desktop they are...


My first though is that these two computers are running different versions of Windows 7. The scanner will run on Windows 7, but, HP states "some features may not be available." Did you get Windows 7 drivers from this link? If one computer is running Windows 7 Home and One is running Windows 7 professional, there would be a difference in hardware support. Professional has more compatibility than Home Premium. I suggest that you: 1. COMPLETELY Uninstall the scanner from the computer that is not working. This includes running a registry cleaner following the standard uninstall. 2. Download the correct Windows 7 software for your version of Windows 7 3. Test the product.
HP posted the driver in January 2010. I hope this helps you.

When I scan 4x6 photos there is a line (sometimes green) across the entire photo that used to not be there. Scanning larger 8x11 photos the line does not show or when scanning documents. Help! I'm in...


If line is vertical.

Try scanning a bigger document. Use a blank page big as the scan capacity and scan the blank page.

If for example you are using an a3 scanner, scan a blank A3 page.

When scanning blank page set resolution to an high value, so that you does not lose pixels.

Check scan result, and explore the whole document using zoom to see if the line is still present on the test scan of the blank page.

If there is still the line, then it is either a scanner dirty, probably inside glass, or a dafective sensor on CCD sensor array.

If there is no line, then the problem is usually depending on the software.

In that case uninstall the software and install it again.

If that is not enough to fix the problem, try uninstalling software, doing a system restore to a date before the problem started , and then installing software again.

If the line is horizontal , that is usually a loss of power on the high voltage to lamp.
Try reinstalling software first, if that does not fix the problem , and line is horizontal, then it is fault mentioned above.
Horizontal lines at the end of a document may also be caused by faulty scanner control board, or scanner going out of memory.

Lines across scan


It appears to be a freak problem. The best way is to bring it to original condition. Try uninstalling the scanner, run Scandisk on the Comp, Switch off and reinstall the driver. this may work.

I've had a similar problem with the streaks, lines and color bleeds appearing in the scan. Try uninstalling the all software and drivers for the scanner and reinstall. Worked for me. Have had to do this a couple of times since I've owned the scanner... about three to four years now.

Visioneer 9420 Scans are terrible


First uninstall the device and reinstall the hardware. Reinstall the software driver. Run scandisk on the Comp.

FIne art scanning - uneven color across scans especially at edge of bed


The problem is going to be with the bulb itself. The scaner you are using is not made to do such precise work. The bulb itself is undersized for such a large scale job. You can look into upgrading the bulb of your scanner but I would not sudgest it unless you go to an authorized dealer/maint contractor for your Microtek to find the proper upgrade.

Problem to see any document on my scanner


Is the scanner not recognised or is it Not scanning?

Is the comp recognising the scanner? If not reinstall the driver. Run scandisk on the drive where the OS is installed. Try uninstall and reinstall.

Pls check if the scanner platten is moving, it could be a hardware problem.
