How do I tell if my belt is bad on a Maytag MDG2600BWW? The starter is still good but when button is pushed, dryer does nothing.

does this drum go round, if not replace the capacitor which in most models is fastened to the main motor, if this doesn't cure the fault you could be looking at a replacement motor, assuming you have checked for any jamming of the drum, does it rotate be hand as well a working motor will just buzz if the drum is jammed hope i have helped, if so please rate me well

Did you have any power surges latley? Sounds like the control board is faulty. I think this model has a control board in the top counsel. Hopefully this helps

Remove the belt from the motor and push 'start'. If the motor makes loud noises, squeals, or the shaft has side play in several directions, then it probably is the motor. Replace it. If the the motor runs quietly, then check the drum by hand to see if it is making excessive noise while turning. There should be a little resistance to turning, but not real difficulty. Hope this helps.

The belt would not be the normal cause for this. the contacts in the motor may be dirty.check the motor and if there is any lint built up on the motor then bry and vaccum or blow all the lint out of the motor,if this does not solve you issue then the start winding in the motor have fone bad and you need to replace the motor.
