Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Thanks........ OK, ohms.....I'm trying it in a two-step process. Just changed the Power Setting Options as you suggested. Let's see what this does to the problem. If it doesn't change, I'll move to a blank screen for screensaver. And then, if THAT doesn't work, I'll probably go get a new monitor.....sound like a plan??? Thanks ever so much.........

    UPDATE ON WARRANTY REPAIR:

LG honored its commitment. They are sending me a new monitor (my credit card will have a hold for $183 until I return the old monitor). They are paying shipping charges both ways.

Apparently I'm not the first one to have this problem. The only question LG Warranty asked was "what resolution is it set to" and my answer was acceptable.

So perhaps this on/off issue is a known problem...

THANKS TO OHMS FOR HIS ANSWERS! I'll use you guys again....

Ohms fixed it! Since I changed the Power Options settings as directed, the monitor has not gone to sleep and thus been hard to wake up.

At ohms' suggestion, I activated my 3-year LG Warranty and a new/refurb monitor is on its way to me at no charge from LG.

Good work, ohms!! I'll tell my friends about FixYa..... thanks!!

Comment by ohms, posted on Jun 19, 2008Definitely it is not your computer. When it was given the signal to go OFF, it did but like completely off. Comment by ohms, posted on Jun 19, 2008Oh one more thing, if the monitor still exhibits same issue after setting your Power Options as displayed above,

check your warranty with that monitor and exercise it.

Yep u got it !

I have a LG 22inch LCD monitor it goes on but only stays on for about 5 min then turns off. If I press the power button it goes on but now only stays on for about 15 seconds please help

First of all, you need to detached the monitor power connection and re-attached it after 5 minutes and check if the monitor works fine.
If issue persists, you need to make sure if any custom settings are made for monitor display power saving mode. To help you find these, please follow the steps mentioned below:
- Click the Start button. Select 'Control Panel' from the Start menu pane.
- Type 'power options' into the search box. Click 'Power Options'.
- Click 'Show Additional Plans' in the 'Select a Power Plan' section.
- Click and enable the 'High Performance' radio button.
- Select the blue 'Change Plan Settings' link next to the High Performance setting to open the plan settings editor window.
- Change the setting beside 'Turn Off Display' to 'Never' under both the 'On Battery' and 'Plugged In' headings. Change the setting beside 'Put the Computer to Sleep' to 'Never' under both headings.
- Click 'Save Changes' to implement the setting.
If issue persists, it is recommended to contact LG Support Center for further assistance from the link given below:

If i try to connect to 1680x1050, my screen goes dark. but when im using 1600x1000 it still desplays

The resolution 1680X1050 is the native resolution for your monitor. This means that the best view for your monitor is for this resolution. Your problem in not at the resolution, it's at the refresh rate. How to fix this? Go to the settings for your screen. At the lower right corner you will locate "for advanced users" button. Click on it and choose the "screen" tab. At the lower part of the window you will locate the "refresh rate". Click on it and change it at the lower setting (about 60 - 70 Hertz). Click on aplly - OK. You will be back to the resolution settings page. Set the resolution at 1680X1050, apply - ok. Go back to "refresh rate" window and change the setting to a higher setting STEP BY STEP. In case of an "out of range" and blaack screen DON'T DO ANYTHING, at 15 seconds you will come back to the previous settings. With this procedure you will get the native resolution for your screen with the higher refresh rate.

The operating system was reinstalled. I can't get my Acer X203H monitor to display on the entire wide screen. It displays like a standard monitor...not the widescreen picture I had before the...

do you have the graphics drivers installed properly. check from device manager. if they are installed, then go to graphic properties by right clicking on desktop and from properties, choose settings then try different resolution settings..probably higher. untill you get full screen. otherwise adjust from your graphic control panel..might give you wide screen options.

I have a problem with my monitor hpw1907v

Not sure which windows you are using but on my Vista there is also a setting for power saving on the PCI Express video card. Have you tried changing that setting. Not sure if that would be the problem but worth a try. Mine is set for maximum power saving but it hasn't turned off on me except while watchng a video. I haven't played a game so don't know if it affects games. It's under advance power settings \ PCI express \ Link state power managment. Turn it to Off and see what happens.
I am guessing you are playing games with a joystick because using a mouse or keys would probably stop the computer turning off the screen. Is there a setting under your game controller preferences for power saving?
You might also have a seperate control panel that installed with your video card that lets you change settings outside of Windows. I have Nvidia Control Panel on mine you might have something else. Maybe you can change something there as well.
